Did the NYPD do the right thing by turning their backs on the mayor?

I'll say right off, I think it was a low class thing to do.

With the way they've been treated, and the lack of support that has been shown them, I don't blame them one bit. I'd be inclined to do the same.

Actually, it wasn't JUST the NYPD that turned their backs to de Blasio. All the LEO's visiting from near and far, and in some cases internationally, all did.

A higher class mayor wouldn't have received such treatment, but then, a higher class mayor wouldn't have thrown his own police force under the bus like the classless de Blasio did. de Blasio could have elected to say very little or nothing, and would have been better off.

You support the protesters for their chanting and calling for dead cops, yes? Yet you are against the LEOs doing the same? Expressing themselves. Interesting that inconsistency.

I haven't seen a single person supporting the VERY FEW protesters calling for dead cops.

There is also a time and place for protest, and I don't think a funeral or memorial service is it.

de Blasio threw his own PD under the bus. Heck, even MOVEON.Org says so.
NYC residents demand the exit of Mayor Bill DeBlasio after 2 NYPD officers were shot and killed today 12/20/14. Accountability for his actions and words MUST be handed down.

**There is a message going around within the nypd that this petition is a rouse from occupy wall street to get information on officers. Occupy wall street has ZERO CONTROL OR SAY IN THIS PETITION!!!!**

Today, Saturday December 20th 2014, 5 days before christmas, 2 NYPD officers were shot and killed in their cruiser for no apparent reason. With the recent news surrounding the NYPD and other law enforcement agencies around the country, our mayor blasted his own police department by throwing them under the bus. His words and actions on the subject matter of late have to be held accountable. He is unfit to lead this city. He is unfit to have a relationship with his police department for his remaining tenure and he should be taken out of office IMMEDIATELY, with proper protocol to be followed to name a replacement before a special election.

And while I don't agree with de Blasio being as unsupportive of the NYPD as he was amidst the protests, the idea that he bears any culpability in a lone nut driving up from Baltimore and plugging two officers holds no water.

50,000 signatures in a city of 8.4 million. At the rate they are going they might actually hit 1% of residents calling for the mayor to resign.

Absolutely not and your strawman is BS. Reguardless, what the Mayor said or done the police should hold themselves to a higher standard. I Know I do.
