    Re: Gift cards?

I put money in a card and give it to it's recipient. No expiration dates or fees. Wonderful and guaranteed all the time.

Gift cards make no sense. Send money. Gift cards are just a person declaring loyalty to a particular company - and paying a premium for it.

What premium? No company that I'm aware of charges anything extra for giving one of their gift cards. Further, you are aware that you can get a Mastercard or Visa gift card that can be spent anywhere, right? It's exactly like sending money, without the risk of sending cash through the mail.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

It makes great sense for me.

My son who's in college doesn't have money for much besides his school expenses, but he has a Samsung S5. Giving him a Google Play Store gift card lets him get stuff he otherwise wouldn't be able to get. And a $10 card only cost me $10. No premium.

What is your opinion of gift cards? Getting and/or giving as gifts (for any occasion). Great? Ok? Another tool for the lazy? Somewhere in between?

Great for those who are picky when it comes to gifts and for children so they can pool them for larger gifts

depends. If they are so place I go, that is fine, but often I get them from places I either do not go or do not want to go.

I love getting them. I love giving them to the right people (like my husband and my hard to buy for older son, who adores them).
