    WHAT?

Most of the games in Vancouver it was sunny. Whistler had rain at the base of the mountain...the biggest complaint was it was too warm. I was at some event every day and barely recall being rained on

I know "its the thought that counts" but when I give a gift, I want it to be something the recipient will enjoy. Gift cards and cash ensures this. However, somewhat similar to giving lingerie; giving gift cards and especially cash isn't always the right gift for the right person.

Always a bad idea are gift cards the have:

    - a fee to purchase above the value of the card
    - a dormancy fee/declining balance
    - a single use "up to dollar amount" feature where the user losses the value of any balance not spent on the first and only transaction.
    - an expiration date or if there's one, its less than a year away.

The best kind are the gift cards that you can buy for a promotional discount. In my city, there's a marketing business that sells gift cards for 50 cents on the dollar on the value of the card. The business gives them to the marketing business for free. The business sells them to the public and keeps the money as their fee for their advertising services than includes introducing the advertiser to new customers.

Along with actual gifts that I selected for each individual, I gave everyone on my list (no children on my list) a Google Play Store gift card because we all use Android devices. I was also careful to give a strategic hint to the right person and, as a result, I got one, too.

It's always fun teasing a Vancouverite about rain. Have a great New Year F&L!

Even with the yardstick-length rain gauge you have outside?

Not that I have any place to talk, it was raining and like 50 degrees here on Christmas eve and probably Christmas too.

Generally I dislike the idea of gift cards. Its like you are just handing out money, but not really.. Basically you took that money that was good practically anywhere on the planet and made it good only in one business.Although if it is a business you frequent a lot or love then it is not that bad. One year I did get a prepaid credit card. Those are way better than gift cards because you can use them online and anywhere else that takes a credit card and you can have some sort anonymity when purchasing things online.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

    Getting or receiving or both?
If you claim sexual harassment to be wrong, yet you defend anyone on your side for any reason,
then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.
