What kind of question is that Medusa?
Racism exists everywhere and always will.
I can't wait for the "only against hetero white males!"
For some that might be very real. Regardless, I would agree with you that it is foolish to believe racism is a one way street.
The foolish thing is to not understand the difference between racism and racial bigotry. There will be plenty of that in this thread.
People have always had issues distinguishing between an individual's prejudices and institutionalized racism. But no matter, the source is just as important as the result in this conversation, as they both speak to the person involved.
Was your intention that racism still exists in the laws of the United States(as in racist laws), or within the American society? (as in racist people)
thanks
Institutionalization is not required for systemic impacts. While today the institutionalization of racism is virtually wiped out, as such policy is illegal, there remains systemic privilege. Thus, a white and black racial bigot carry different social implications; the former is capable of perpetuating SP while the latter is not. The former perpetuates racism, societal injustice - racism, while the latter does not and is merely a bigot.
While true, there is a root to it all and it explains well why racism and prejudice is still alive and well today.
The root is ignorance. Racism is perpetuated today by those that would claim racism and racial bigotry are the same thing.

Of course, racism exists - bigots and morons exist everywhere. Laws alone cannot ever stop crime - they can only define it for later enforcement of those laws.
Close, very close. The root of any prejudice is ignorace, which points to education being a natural answer. Matters are made worse by those that claim racism and bigotry are the same thing, but the net effect of either one is undesirable for everyone involved. It is not racism to make the confusion, just more lack of understanding.
Our side arguement takes us further away from what we really should be talking about.
To make the confusion is to serve racists and racism, as the false equivalence is the cornerstone of modern racist propaganda.
Good luck not defining racism and the thread meaning anything.
I suppose we'll leave the thread to the hetero white males that will claim AA is institutionalized racism and they are victims.
Being defeatist and saying a problem cannot be solved is almost as bad as denying it exists. The result is still giving up and allowing the problem to continue.
