And the more america becomes secular the more materialistic it becomes.
You sure? There's not many atheists out there and tons of crowds for Black Friday and other events. You want to stick with your story that they're all secularists?

Perhaps at one time, but now the mean value of Christmas is unbridled consumerism and greed.

There was a time when it was about this. In modern America that has taken a back seat to trampling other humans for 60 bucks off a LED TV.

Congratulations on your appointment as spokesman for the entire nation. Your parents must be very proud.

And so, the annual "War on Christmas" diatribe begins once again....

Nope, not a spokesman. Just a man who watches the news and understands statistics.

Can we do a poll within this poll to ask how many of those voting no celebrate Christmas themselves? Just out of curiosity

Re: Do you agree with Ben Stein's unique Christmas perspective?

    I don't see why not.

For the Jewish thing, it's kind of funny. I recently watched a cheesy Christmas film called Switchmas about a Jewish kid from Hollywood who wants to have the storied Christmas experience. It was a cute film with plenty of self-parody of Jewish culture and Christmas films.

We can rant about the commercialism involved in Christmas, but I don't think that gets at what most people use the holiday for. Yes we buy things, but we do so with the aim of thinking about (and spending time with) our loved ones and wanting a positive social experience.

This was why I also chose not to watch Fox News during the time, because while they were trying to convince us that Christmas was dying around us and it was a reason to be angry, I was around family and friends, driving along noticing people around me were generally in the festive mood. No fire and brimstone involved. No culture war being fought.

I find it more revealing that some wish to decry people who buy Christmas lights and decorations.
