The Puritans were not early Christians. They didn't come on to the scene until 1200 years after Constantine converted the Roman Empire to Christianity.

What you have just told me is you don't understand the meaning of the word celebration. You should look it up, books are your friend.

That's fine. The point being that Christmas is what you want to make it. There really nothing (besides the decree of a long-deceased Roman Emperor) that gives the holiday to Jesus or to Christians. If you want to get drunk and give presents, there's a lot precedent for that.

    Enjoy the holidays.

Yup, with my closest loved ones.

He wanted the cultural attachments around Christmas - the "holidays" if you will - without the religious part. That's not what you think he said, but it is what he said - he wanted the holidays without the Christ part of Christmas.
So despite the rest of his comments, and the overall intent of his statement he in it for the lights. Got it.

Are you referring to yourself as an atheist celebrating the birth of Christ?
