And that has WHAT to do with anything I said?

This nation has become inundated with trash these days. It's reflected in pop culture. Crap like the Jerry Springer show sells. People entertain themselves with reality TV. People are obese and lazy. I have no desire whatsoever to do anything at all to them. Their own attitudes will be reward enough.

Obesity among America's youth is far lower than obesity among America's older generation.

Defend yourself now.

... Straight up into the sky like Manhattan, where people flood onto the streets and into the subways like sardines and crime is rampant.

That's miserable.

It would probably be miserable to me also, but lot's of people seem to like high rise apartments and big city life.

Me, I like my five acre compound in the suburbs. I can point out plenty of un-utilized land all over the country, if you would like to have your own compound.

Defend myself from what? You? Don't make me laugh.
I made the statement that America has gotten fat. It has. I haven't, and maybe you haven't, but our obesity rates are through the roof, and we've become collectively lazy and complacent. I have no need to defend myself from anyone. Look up the stats.

Lizzie is perfect in every way. Kinda like a beautiful purple calla lily.

'til it comes to a screeching halt and everything falls off of the shelves in one massive jumble that all of the king's horses and all of the king's men will never unravel.

I hope that I don't live to see that day.

You and me both, but it is coming as it seems as long as the government can print money, the dollar will still be worth something.

more correctly civil war 2.

the "north" will be those that do there own work and value work.

the "south" will be those dependant on the new slavery. Free Trade etc.

Nope. I don't see our government confiscating private farms or our production dropping to near zero. Why would such a thing happen?

Every single instance of hyperinflation that has ever existed happend in a country which had it's production shut down. Think about it, inflation is caused not by too much money (have you ever had "too much money"?), but by a lack of sufficient goods to meet demand. Our production of goods and services is increasing, not decreasing.

Seriously, how can you compare Zimbabwe to the US?

I'm not, and I sincerely hope it's never possible to do so.

Then it becomes a question of how many more dollars might be required to buy that something. We've learned over time that price controls don't work for long either - it causes black markets to thrive, and that can be a problem. The book "One Second After" spells out what can happen in that scenario. For one thing, lawlessness increases as people become desperate!

That's true. Look at New York and cigarettes. The cigarette black market is flourishing, cracking down on the black market let to the death of seller and the rest is history so to speak. But government knows best, just ask them and they will tell you so.

The debt means nothing until it does, hopefully I won't be around to live those seconds after.

We're completely screwed... not a matter of 'if', but when.

Can't create "money" out of thin air forever; can't run trade deficits forever, i.e. being subsidized by the rest of the world as they trade their goods for our paper; can't continue to increase the size and scope of government year after year, i.e. you can only travel down the road to total government for so long before you eventually arrive there; cities and municipalities will be going insolvent in about 10 years, i.e. they will no longer be able to meet their pension obligations and mandates; on and on...

The writing is on the wall - however, if ignorance is bliss, then it is a Godsend that Amerikans have been made completely ignorant by the indoctrination they received in the government school they attended.

It will turn into an post zombie apocalypse society where we have to eat each other too survive. I also believe that aliens will come, kill all the zombies and then populate the earth.

I think the future will be incredibly bright due to the hard work and foresight of the Obama administration laying a solid foundation for progress with so many new jobs, the unleashing of the American entrepreneurial spirit, healthcare for all and a country that no longer accepts torture, homophobia, police brutality, white privilege and the degrading incessant war on women.

I'm not saying that it'll never happen, but I'm not going to start giving away all of my stuff right now.
Didn't suggest that you should, but indicating that my worries were "BS" was unwarranted as well.

Believe whatever you want to believe.

I choose to believe that tomorrow will be better than today.

If I'm wrong. I'll find that out when the time comes. Meanwhile I'm enjoying my life.

I gather from this thread that we're totally ****ed and everything will be great.

...

Can't create "money" out of thin air forever; can't run trade deficits forever, ...

We've done it for the last 238 years.

For that matter, every single currency in the world was created from nothing, but is backed by the goods and services that can be purchased with it. Seems to work fairly well, as long as consumers have some in their pockets, and producers produce enough to meet demand.
