That makes about as much sense as someone voting for the EPIC FAILURE Obama.

I dunno, what's your guess? Why is OPEC driving down the price of oil?

Yes ... am a proponent of American exceptionalism

It's the greatest of nations I'd be willing to live in.

Not even close to the greatest nation on Earth.

What's the latest and greatest technology today? Computers and the internet? Both American inventions, and America dominates both industries. We always have been and always will be leading the pack when it comes to driving the direction of technology.

So what if we invented this or sent a person to the moon. What does that have to do with the daily lives of people and their happiness? Nothing...

That cell phone in your pocket? Guess who invented it? America. You're welcome, world.

Greatest percentage of obese people? America. Good job.

How so ... ? By what measures ... except that of the power of other countries?

Having travelled and lived in other nations it is a gut feeling... there really is no way to measure such a question. I say New Zealand is the greatest.

Oh no ... oohh ooh ooh ee eee aaa aa, their degree of production is greater than their calorie intake in trade. Boop Boop.

- We're the richest. We have more money than any other nation on earth and it ain't close.

The people in Qatar, Luxembourg, Singapore, Norway and Brunei would disagree with you on that one.

Also it depends on whether or not you see the EU as an economic union because the EU generates plenty of money too.

- We're the smartest. We have something like over half of the world's Nobel Prize winners. Our universities are the top ranked in the world.

Sure, you have the largest number of Nobel prizes. But that is also in part because the US is the biggest developed country in the world. Per 100,000 people that picture is a lot different.

- We're the most industrial. Modern industry as you know it was invented and perfected in the US of A.

In China 44% of the population works in the Industrial sector compared to 19.1% in the US. Modern industry was largely invented in the UK and the US but now it is China, Japan and the Far East who are the industrial powerhouse of the world. Only high end production is now the primary focus of the previously industrialized world.

- We kick ass. Most powerful military in the history of human civilization relative to our contemporaries

Yes, you are certainly the most powerful nation in the modern human civilization.

- We're not sissies - looking at you, France

Yea, France might be a lot of things but calling them sissies is just silly. A lot of brave French out there.

- We innovate. We invented pretty much everything in existence in the modern world, and that trend is continuing.

Yes, you are innovative but you invented pretty much in existence? But a lot of inventions are made all over the world.

- We sent a man to the moon for christ's sake. That was 50 years ago. No other nation has yet to be able to do it, even today.

Well, maybe because other countries did not think it worth the money to send people to the moon. They spent their money in other ways. Maybe they invested their money more intelligently.

- We don't have stupid royalty or aristocracies. America is the only country on earth where going rags to riches is truly seen as possible.

No, you have idiotic and lying politicians and presidents (just like most countries in the world). And most royalties are not stupid but are well respected.

- We dominate the global political scene. If America wants something done, such as a treaty, it gets done.

Well, with military power and buying power comes a lot of power. Some might see that as power, others might see that as being the biggest bully on the playground (I am not implying that but other people can see that very differently).

- Other nations need us more than we need them.

Ooh please, that was true once but with a lot of industry moving over to cheap labor countries and a lot of importing of all kinds of raw products the US needs the world just as badly as the world needs the US IMHO.

- We utterly dominate popular culture and the arts - Hollywood baby. ALL the movies that seen by a broad audience are American. We invented rock and roll, the blues, rap, hip hop, and all the modern media. We invented television, and pretty much everything that goes on it.

Yes, you invented rock and roll, the blues, rap, hip hop and a lot of other modern media but art is hugely dominated by other countries as well. And being proud of hollywood is a double edged sword ;)

I could go on, but that's a start.

Being the greatest country is not a contest, nor is it something that can be decided on the things you have mentioned here. They might help in determining it but the US is not among the 10 happiest countries in the world.

Personally I can not say whether or not the US is the greatest country or not. It is one of the greatest country outside my own country but cannot be proved in the list you have stated above here. It is a feeling and it is no more than reasonable that every person in the US should feel the US the greatest country on the planet.

People from other countries would see it very different. That is decided on more than just facts and figures.

The reaosn why America has a lot of innovation is because of immigration.

We attract bright people from all around the world due to our freedoms and such.

That is why I get scared when I see xenophobes.

America is the greatest nation on Earth because no other nation attracts masses to immigrate like America.

Our biggest asset is immigration. It's time for us to realize that and quit the xenophobic BS.

Einstein was an immigrant, Steve Job's father I believe was an immigrant, and countless other billionaires/inventors/rulers were immigrants or children of immigrants. No other nation in the world has that.

So, I say America is the greatest nation in the world because she attracts people, people want to immigrate here. The second that stops, we die.

kk so we got this one nuke, that deploys in space if we ever need it ...

Oh look is that a guy on the MOON!!!???

And upon re-entry its disintegrates into a scattered payload of nuclear warheads that can vaporize an entire nation.

we also got this one computer controlled radar sensor guided vulcan cannon which fires a field of huge caliber projectiles to anything cruising at mach speed including individual missile projectiles.

like in gundam wing ....

just thought you should know the basics

Why would the nature of immigrant populations differ 70 years later?

Having travelled and lived in other nations it is a gut feeling... there really is no way to measure such a question. I say New Zealand is the greatest.

Thats unfortunate ... I mean ... Europe may have been [edit: would've] nicer altogether under hitler, but well, whatever.

Logically and/or comically (if that is what you were attempting) I hope that you can do better than that...

Yes, America can break stuff the best, ergo it's the best nation.

What in the hell are you talking about?

So anyhow, orion launched today ...
but yes, I'm talking about power.

There are papers on the basic conception of power by economic and realist perspectives you could navigate, I'm sure.

Yes, America can break stuff the best, ergo it's the best nation.

Yes, because so far that is the measure still. Militaries and Economies.

3 Chinese for every american, btw.

I believe Germany and Japan have a good run at productivity per human.

Actually, that's not the measuring stick. Quality of life, quality of healthcare, quality of education, lack of poverty, lack of social injustice, civil rights -- those are far better factors in determining greatness.

Please elaborate.

In that modern immigrants contribute less to national productivity than they did many dozens of years ago.
It depends how you want to take that, I mean that in the context of modern immigration. Say, if the executive were to authorize several million illegal immigrants into legality ... the stereotype concerning their productivity stands. Im not sure, this is for debates sake. [I hold that negative immigration by amnesty is flawwed]. So thats a different rabbit hole.

That, is an opinion. Reserved by the example of tiny lucky states to compare against. It isn't real.

I meant it quite literal, too bad.

Too bad what? That you think Europe under Hitler was better than the USA or that you are ridiculing my assessment of my travels and knowledge in that, what?

What you said doesn't make much sense... if any.

Yes, because so far that is the measure still. Militaries and Economies.

That is part of the measure. Quality of life. Standard of living. Religious and other freedoms. Friendliness. Infrastructure ratings. Education. Etc.

Orion is a nuclear powered space craft design and not a nuclear weapon (missile).
