"He could have been my son!"

The first and only president to break the solid tradition of heads of state never commenting on a verdict of one's peers was an egregious wrong that only fostered on-going bitterness toward the system/establishment and whites in general.

But then we know his "stupid voter" supporters will ignore that and keep insisting, like all his other failures, that it isn't so.

I would say the opposite, Obama has given sanction to open and blatant racism against whites.

The New democrats, now hating white people.

I really don't see it as an improvement.

Hurt - through no fault of his own though. The republican base has really shown their true colors, as much as they are willing to admit, when it comes to him. I think every honest person in the country has been awakened to the fact that we are a lot farther off than we thought when it came to racism in this country. There are still a large number of people who harbor it.

So yes, by him being black and president, it has hurt race relations because racism has reared its ugly head more in the last 6 years. Who would have thought there would have been so many telling our president to "go back to Africa"? I wouldn't have thought it.

You just can't admit that the problems with Obama have nothing whatsoever to do with the color of his skin. We elected an inexperienced community organizer to the WH, a fellow with absolutely no governing experience, thinking he would grow into the job.

I'm sure Bush is a bit thankful, he no longer holds the crown for worst modern president.

I think when he was elected..maybe the black people thought he may do something to help them..he hasn't..

It was the same aspirations we had with Margaret Thatcher..doing something for women..she didn't either..

I promise that almost all of the problems have absolutely nothing to do with the color of his skin. But has a president ever been so disrespected since day 1 (since before day one actually)? It also doesn't remove me from society and from where I work, where I have personally heard people call him the n-word and personally heard them say they'd hang him, etc.

Can you not admit that there is a decent portion of the population that is still harboring racism - and that includes people in Congress?

And who would have thought there would be so many blatant bigots on the liberal side of the spectrum who are so intellectually and ideologically vacant that they must label legitimate policy disagreement as a racial attack. These empty minded individuals have truly added to the increased tensions that can be found today.

Yup, his predecessor. And you wouldn't believe the things people said about Nixon, before, during and after.

Do I think there are racists in congress? Do you mean the guilty white liberal type or the old style KKK type? And calling him the N word as a descriptor doesn't mean someone is racist, Chris Rock explains what the word means.

Bush had one of the highest approval ratings of all time early in his presidency and I don't think you can find members of the other party saying their only goal was to make him fail. And who gives a **** about or defends Nixon?

    GL with that.
