Is the media inciting the Ferguson riots?

Yeah. Not feeling it. I'm a small business owner in Georgia. Back when we were getting started we were broke, lost our home to foreclosure, sold everything we had of value except the couple of old cars we used to get to work, and still, being white and self employed, were ineligible for EBT or any other kind of assistance. If I gave up the struggling start up I would have been eligible. The very nice hispanic woman at the social services, when asked how it could possibly be that we couldn't get any help at all, pointed at the ethnicity sector of the application and the "white" box with the checkmark in it. Everybody has their crosses to bear. I am of Polish descent, I have (had) relatives who came here fleeing Nazi Germany, and many who did not escape. This was not nearly as long ago as slavery, and yet I harbor no ill will toward Germans. Let it go. Goading people and accusing them of racism until you finally piss them off so you can capture a sound bite is childish at best. Continuing to blame your present circumstances on something that happened over 100 years ago is a cop out and a poor excuse for poor personal behavior.

You gripe about your hardships in life, and I'm the one who needs to "let it go"? Methinks you have your pronouns mixed up.

Okay then, let's have that conversation, if you're so confident that you will win it. Let's talk about the history of race and racism in this country. Let's compare and contrast how racism has looked across the various years of US history.

Hmm, I don't know about other people, but racism looks the same today as it has to me in the past 50+ years, ugly.

There was no reason for the media to mention race unless it was to push the narrative of racism. What social networks say is irrelevant. The media could have said unarmed suspect shot while allegedly assaulting a police officer or some other similar headline that had nothing to do with race. Nor did they need to constantly air the story dad after day, especially when they do not do that for other police shooting suspect stories.

There was no racial discrimination in this case.So your point is irrelevant. Contrary to popular liberal belief they do not issue the cops black men hunting licenses nor are police prowling the streets for black men to shoot.
If television and print media want to compete with online media, then what social networks say is relevant. In terms of the relevancy of my point, it is relevant regardless of whether racial discrimination exists in the Ferguson case because it directly addresses the problem of "race riots" you pointed out. If you don't want them, then eliminated racial discrimination. Unlike White people who riot over Pumpkin Festivals, baseball games, football games, a surfing competition and a university firing someone who covered up child molestation, Black people riot over injustice, or at least perceived injustice so maybe you should work on trying to stop White people destroying neighborhoods over pumpkins before you start worrying about anyone else.

You clearly missed the point. The only reason we are still talking about racism is that there are race baiters like you.

The leftist MSM is inciting riots to the best of their ability, though there is only so much the NY Times and MSNBC can do to create violence. But they are putting out the effort.

FIFY, again. Stop being so defensive.

Then stop being so offensive. If you think everyone is a racist just because you are, the problem is yours, not mine.

Yes that is true.....Nothing really has changed..black people are still the sub humans...in any country..

I'm sure you don't actually believe that... I don't think that way at all. People are people no matter what color their skin - it's more about education and economics than anything else.

That's a good cause..unfortunately it doesn't work...

How can we tell it won't work until we try it? Remove the lifetimes of handouts, allow school choice, improve inner city schools and incentives to improve those areas and provide opportunities and people will thrive.

To defer to a white person's ego before deferring to a black person's basic human rights would be subhuman of me. I'm sorry, this problem is not going to go away until it goes away.

That's not true at all, you might want to rephrase that to being perceived as sub humans, at this point, I'm not sure if you're serious or funning.

About the only thing that's changed that is visible is that blacks are shopping, eating, and using public transportation with whites, and aren't openly discriminated against as much, it's more covert now, people hide what they feel inside of them. Not to be disparaging or denigrating here, but that old saying comes to mind, you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country of the boy.

Well, they sure aren't helping.

Is the media inciting the Ferguson riots?

I say yes. There is no reason to mention the races of the individuals involved is such a shooting unless it is to instill the idea that the reason that one individual was shot because of skin and the individual who did the shooting did so because of race. When someone burglarizes a house they don't say a hispanic, black, white or whatever burglarized the the home of a white, hispanic, black of whatever homeowner. Other police shootings do not get as much attention as this story. If the media did not do these things I seriously doubt there would be any riots in Ferguson.

No question about it..

China – The Chinese state news Xinhua News Agency said hours before the governor ordered National Guard troops into Ferguson, "Obviously, what the United States needs to do is to concentrate on solving its own problems rather than always pointing fingers at others."

Russia – The Russian Foreign Ministry stated, "Our American partners [have] to pay more attention to restoring order in their own country before imposing their dubious experience on other nations" and that the U.S. "has positioned itself as a 'bastion of human rights' and is actively engaged in 'export of democracy' on a systematic basis", but that "serious violations of basic human rights and barbaric practices thrive" in the country.

Iran – Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency commented, "[V]iolence has become institutionalized in the U.S. in recent years, but since President Obama, the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize winner, came to the White House, the violence has intensified, and now it has erupted against blacks in Ferguson."[

Germany – In an interview with Der Spiegel, Marcel Kuhlmey, professor in the department of security management at the Berlin University of Economics and Law, a security expert, who asserted that what happened in Ferguson could never happen in Germany, stating that "In the U.S., it seems to me, the police are far quicker to resort to guns. Even at the training stage, there is a much heavier emphasis on shooting [than in Germany]".[220] Zeit Online described the incident as an example of deep-rooted racism in the U.S, concluding that "the situation of African-Americans has barely improved since Martin Luther King."

Am I reading that right? Is that really a stone cold, flat out racist comment?

Yeah. Not feeling it. .

There are a couple here, and apparently phys is one, that think that all white people are racists and that the USA is an institutionally racist society...

Race baiting detected...

If by the anti-black and anti-brown venom that is constantly thrown around the mainstream media, then yes. You can no longer depend on your white privilege and not expect to get called on it.

I see it as terribly tragic that the media made this entirely about race, rather than the real issue - police violence.

It is the MEDIA that decides who to put on the air and who not to. It is the MEDIA that decided to put on Al Sharpston and such, the MEDIA that legitimized this being about race, and the MEDIA that - accordingly - totally ignored the race-neutral issue of police violent and non-accountability of police violence (and murder).

What happened in NYC isn't unique. There are piles of videos of the most violent and sadistic beating and tasering of totally innocent people, and increasing videos of innocent people being beat and shot to death. No doubt, for every 1 video there are 100 that were not videotaped.

You admit to race baiting... all done here.
