President Obama claiming that African-Americans are in the USA because their ancestors were "immigrants" in incredibly offensive towards African-Americans, isn't it? However, since he is NOT the prodigy of slaves - and instead there is evidence that slave-trader is in his ancestry - the thought probably never crossed his mind that African-Americans are not in this country by "immigration."

there's no option for me to vote in the poll.... but Obama's argument is incredibly weak.... it's pretty absurd.

Think for a second here-we like any sovereign nation have a right and duty to determine who comes here and how. Supporting symbolism and rhetoric over thought is unacceptable.
Whend did your family emigrate here? What did that process look like?

Why do you think Obama makes these unpopular and imo wrong comments?

So basically, your ancestors were allowed in through a much less arduous process, but current immigrants should have a more difficult time becoming citizens.

Father. Mid 1970's. He first applied to go to college here and was told he needed a degree first. So he got it, applied again, and 2 years after that was accepted.

Like I said he jumped through the hoops and complied by the rules. People sneaking across the border not so much.

Its not up to them to decide. They play by the rules (like any other nation) or they dont come here. How is that hard to understand?

Its a very lengthy process to become an engineer, physician, or lawyer-does that make it ok for people to bypass the system?

    Stop thinking with your heart.

When they sneak across the border, what is the draw? Who is hiring them?

On my mother's side, sons and daughters of slaves with white folk already here and Indians. On my father's side, my great grandmother was a nurse in Wales hired to do the medical treatment of workers in a large cannery in the US and brought over by the company.
