Who is America's #1 foe on the world stage?

Voted "other." The real answer is everyone is our foe.

When you run a modern day empire where as a nation you occupy more nations around the globe than any other empire in human history accomplished then everyone is a foe of some degree. Even our close allies, whom we generally occupy as well and spy on. It is the price we pay for being the de facto Worlds Police Department. The reason there is no #1 among everyone is depending on day of the week, some other nation is the problem of the day.

Problem yes, like ISIL. They're a problem, but they don't have the capability to hurt us as badly as Russia or China can. Russia and China have ran more spies through the U.S. then there will ever be members of ISIL. Russia turns people against the U.S. Government by spreading disinformation and propaganda through their State Ran "Media" Organization, like this oldie - "The C.I.A. Assassinated President John F. Kennedy". The pressure from actors like Russia and China is always there, and there are moments when its pressure gets unbearable, just as ISIL had us feeling on 9/11 and a few days before leading up to it. ISIL goes for the filmed beheading whereas Russia likes the slow knife better.

GOP and their financial backers. They are slowly but surely driving the US deeper and deeper into the ****hole that they created in the first place and with that most likely the rest of the world as well.

Yes. The UN was set up to make peace easier to maintain. And within the special circumstances of the Cold War it was helpful.
In a world as is now developing, why even now, it is far less than a garator of security and often it prevents it. Think of Syria and the way that is getting out of hand.

What we need is a much more robust mandate and a global structure that reliably secures the safety of populations. This will be a rather big job.

What this world needs and what it's going to get from today's UN are two vastly different things.

I like the idea of the UN,but only when it works.

I seriously doubt that it will bring total peace on this planet anytime soon. There are too many people who are getting rich off of war.

Where do you get this stuff from???

Just so we're clear here - are you suggesting the USofA does not do much of the same stuff you accuse Russia and China of doing?

Of course not. And before you can be like, "Ah, you're biased!" I will admit it right now, I am biased for my country. I know, I know. But, I am. I love being an American that lives in America. There is literally no other place I'd rather be. So, naturally, I want to see my country succeed. And when foreigners are doing **** I don't like, well, it pisses me off. I don't sit there and say, "Well, I'm going to excuse their behavior because we made them mad." **** that. That's noise from the appeasement pacifists propaganda playbook. The world is an ugly place and if the U.S. does not do the things it sometimes does then it would not remain atop the global food chain. History shows that the ride for countries not in the #1 spot can be pretty God damn awful. I don't want that, do you want that? If you don't, then move to America. If you already live in America, don't argue against your own self-interests! Logic and history dictates that you want your country to be numero uno. If you're not competitive, just sit at the kid's table then.

That seems to be the consensus - if the U.S. sinks economically then so does everyone else.

So you're a hypocrite then right?

It's fine for USA to spy, invade, imprison, assassinate, coerce, threaten, embargo, .........

It's ONLY wrong when other countries do some of the same crap to us.

I didn't say that it wasn't wrong. I have long condemned many things we've done. But, the older and more well-read I become, the less that stuff incites me. What will incite me is when some ass clown tries blowing **** up in my homeland. I suppose if you want to call that hypocritical, you can, but I don't think you fully appreciate the level of ugliness this world is really painted in. Or what things like loyalty, commitment or patriotism mean in the world as it is. Sacrifices are made day-in-day-out so crooked bureaucrats can play marionette with some 3rd world country. Yeah, I give them **** for that whenever it arises, but I guess I'm just old fashioned about my people getting tore the **** up, cause, you know, I'm loyal to my own people. I'm not even 30 and I'm already a relic, apparently.

It is certainly true the UN is insufficient for the job. That is why it needs mending. When it introduced r2p it was a first step pushed by the then US administration, but supported by politicians on both sides of the isle. The idea was that to gain enough support for the UN to be given a mandate to enforce meaningful peace keeping it required popular legitimacy and that that is bestowed by guaranteeing not Nations' but individuals' safety and security. The mandate that r2p received is totally insufficient as we so nicely demonstrated in Syria or Ukraine. It still needs a lot of work and persuasion. And, of course, a much more robust legal framework and organization.

It would be nice, if you were to briefly outline, what hole you mean.

Nah, I hear you.

I picked Russia and China. Two other superpower rivals competing with USA.

Perhaps America's biggest threat is America.

We might be our own worst enemy.

We're slowly tearing ourselves apart.

Of course it does.. it is the biggest economy out there... well China is bigger now, but if China sneezes then the world also sneezes now.

There are always many countries and organizations being talked about in the media, be it print, Internet or on T.V.

Some of these foes are obviously worse than others, but that's for you to decide, ultimately.

So, who is America's #1 foe?

1) ISIL/ISIS/Islamic State
2) al Qaeda and all of the affiliates
3) Drug Cartels
4) Weapon proliferators
5) Russia
6) China
7) North Korea
8) Iran
9) Other, please specify

After you have voted, please post why you chose what you chose.

America's retraction from the world stage has been and still is the biggest danger (foe if you will) to America on that world stage. So, I voted Other.

that's a bit lame to say that about a guy who really isn't a hack. I usually agree with you but that's a bit over the top.

The riposte was entirely in keeping and appropriate to his attack. After all, a riposte can only happen after an attack.

You should add the word "normally" in place of "really", then I would agree with you.

You're the one who has the far-right's dick in his mouth.

How do you breathe?

And how do you define "far-right"? Only someone who's mind is limited to a perception of "if your not one, you must be the other" would equate anti-socialism to being "far-right". You know, the kind of mind set normal for socialist and proto-socialist.

Ignorance and fear are, IMO, the two things we must work on ... and I'll bet that I am NOT the only one to state this .. We shall see ..
