Atheists.

I'm the type of atheist who believes that a loving, omnipotent, God would never have created the world that we live in today.

Why would He deny half of the population the rights that he gives to the other half?

Basically the apatheist is positionless regarding "God." One may say that the only position of an apatheist is to remain positionless regarding deities. Useless position on itself in my opinion (i.e., position)!

I like to be a strong atheist because there is no actual empirical evidence of deities. I challenge the religious to present those if they assert that deities exist in whichever religion. If actual empirical evidence of deities exist then I could be thee most fanatic believer of them all!

In some companies though I may be forced to be a negative atheist. I just keep it to myself. Let them do the same. No harm done if they do not assert it.

I'm going to go with a fourth option: Neutral Atheist (neither positive nor negative).

I don't believe in god, but I also don't assert that there is no god.

What I do assert is that a God that gives a flying **** about human beings cannot possibly exist. The belief in God that is presented by humanity is an amazingly arrogant belief that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever when the sheer, mind-numbing scope of the universe and the utterly minuscule nature of the species as a whole.

The human-created version of God essentially treats humanity as the single most important thing in the universe. Logically, this makes no sense at all. Humans occupy an infinitesimally tiny fraction of the 3 dimensional space of the universe and have existed for an infinitesimally tiny fraction of the 4th dimension.

To put it into perspective, saying humanity is the most important thing in the universe is like saying the most important thing that has happened in all of the Earth's history was you eating a ham sandwich at lunchtime last Thursday. It takes something that is disproportionately minuscule and tries to extrapolate it's importance to a massive degree.

Ultimately, there may indeed be a supreme being that created the universe, but there is no logical reason to assume it gives a flying **** about any individual human, or even the species as a whole. Thus, regardless of the potential existence of said supreme being, there is no logical reason to believe in it in the absence of definitive proof of it's existence, because even if it DOES happen to exist, the end result will always be the same as if there was no such being: permanent annihilation and eternal non-existence upon death.

I pretty much agree with what you say.

If there is a supreme being in this universe I haven't seen any indication that it's wasting any of its time on the human race.

So why should I waste any of my time on it?

And, as I see it, it would be a waste of time because it wouldn't accomplish anything.

Would I give a **** if an ant worshiped me? Hell no. Hundreds of billions of ants worshiping me wouldn't mean **** to me.
