So many people claim to hate them, and I believe they are sincere in that. I might be weird, but yes, I do like them. I can't explain why. Positive, neutral, negative... doesn't matter. I get a kick out of them. I'm usually kind of sad when the election is over and they go away.

The only times I don't like political ads is when the local station carries ads for candidates I cannot vote for. There's nothing worse than having nearly every commercial break followed by 2 ads of opposing candidates from another state.

Just two? Well aren't you lucky lol.

Try five, the entire commercial break, for candidates outside my district, and then two more at the start of the next one just to be on the safe side.

Although it was weirdly refreshing to watch a Republican go after his primary opponent over him being a millionaire.

Do you live near a state line, by chance?

Yep, and you guessed why. For a long time, I did. The local paper (regardless if it was an election season or not) was practically "Other State Daily" and political season was "Vote for Other State's Candidate." :p

I live in a congressional district that doesnt have a local tv channel in it so I have never seen an ad for or against my congressman. However I do see a bunch of them and they are all the same, the candidate claims their opponent has done something non-conservative and you shouldnt vote for them. Its impossible to tell what party anyone is from the ads because even the democrats are trying to make the conservatives look like liberals.

I prefer to get my political information from sources other than 30 second advertisements.

I don't watch them.

These ads are only effective for adolescents/staggeringly naive and/or morons, imo.

Sadly that describes a sizeable portion of the populace.

Can't stand them.

Not only do I not like them, I don't think they are very effective.

My problem with political television ads is that the TV company can contribute to their candidates of chose and the candidates use that contribution money to pay the same TV company to run their add. They probably get better deals for the candidates they like.

Hate with a passion.

There are only two positives to political ads:

1. They provide a lot of good material which, when plowed into the garden, helps keep it green, and
2. They supplant the constant ads for prescription meds that pollute the airwaves

(Hell no, I shouldn't ask my doctor, particularly when you've already said this crap could kill me!)

I think they are. The problem with the public is that they say one thing, but empirical studies demonstrate the opposite. Americans love negative campaign ads like a guilty pleasure they are unwilling to acknowledge even privately. A campaign can rise or fall on the basis of some of these ads. They work.

Yes, they work. If they didn't, politicians wouldn't spend millions of special interest bri.. I mean campaign finance money to run them.

I hate them. Living in Georgia I have seen so many lies told by Nunn about Perdue and lies about Nunn told by Perdue I have said to heck in a hand basket to both of them. Both have told so many lies if they were Pinocchio their noses would circle the earth tens times over.

What those ads have done to me is to ensure I vote for Amanda Swafford. If those two tell so many lies to get elected, they will continue to lie to Georgians once they are elected. Neither deserves to be elected, they deserve to be banned from politics altogether. But one will, god help Georgia.

no. i hate them. i hate them even more than fake testimonials, the outside bathtub boner people, and the dude who would have cracked the block of his overheated 1969 Camaro if he had really poured ice cold water into it after taking a boner pill. the only commercial that even comes close to my level of hate for political ads is that ****ing piece of **** Crestor idiocy.

God no. I can't stand the damn things. And the fact that they go on for months makes it even worse. I'm never more thankful for DVR than during election season.

However, I think my point would bring some amount of skepticism toward the honesty of this poll's results. ;)

Do I like political ads? I don't know, do you like it when a complete stranger sticks his tongue in your ear?

I never see any, I ignore all advertising. I get really pissed off at people who call me though, in fact, I just cancelled my landline because the only people who call me on it want to sell me something or want to ask for money. I'd rather not have one because of it. I've taken to telling every single person who calls that because of them, they've just cost their candidate my vote.

Political ads amuse me, usually.

Also, I rarely see them because I don't watch TV. Sometimes youtube has em.
