Something that seems inevitable with the current ISIS conflict going on, is that the Kurds are going to demand a nation of their own when all is said and done. Not that one can really argue with that; they have been defending the land from ISIS for quite some time without the support of the Iraqi Government (which technically I guess there apart of). And speaking of said government, It's not exactly like Baghdad has been treating the Kurds as equal. It would seem they have every right to demand to rule themselves.
The question then becomes, what would Turkey's response be? I recall this being an issue back when we were trying to decide what Iraq would become. At the time, Turkey said they wouldn't allow it. Despite that concern though, I think this should be something that we support. As far as I know, the government that would be created would at the very least be a secular one, and that is no small feat in the ME.
So what do you think? Also, if the Kurds do gain independence, do you think the Turks will sit by and watch, or take military action to prevent it?
