Do you really believe that black people drive worse?

Blacks account for more than 70 percent of the nation's traffic stops while comprising less than 20 percent of its drivers.

As Wiki defines it: "White privilege (or white skin privilege) is a term for societal privileges that benefit white people beyond what is commonly experienced by non-white people in the same social, political, or economic circumstances" White privilege - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Yes, there is such a thing as white privilege. It isn't the concept that when you are born white, you are born wealthy. It's small things that make the social experience different for non-whites. For instance, seeing a name on a resume` that looks Latino can sometimes come with the assumption that the person will not speak English well and, thus, remove them from candidacy for the job. Standardized tests can often be slanted toward the white experience by referencing Anglo culture and academics stress European literature as a requirement while making other cultural literature elective.

The poll selections should have been broken down into white and not white options.

    As in:

    1) I am white - yes
    2) I am white - no
    3) I am not white - yes
    4) I am not white - no

I wonder how many of the "no" answers come from white people? I'm guessing 100%

    You would be wrong.

I pretty much stay above 35th st and West of Arlington if I can help it. I don't venture anywhere past Jefferson Park except in the most dire of circumstances.

Whenever I come upon someone straddling the fast lane driving 32 miles per hour in a 65 MPH zone, inevitably the person behind the wheel is Asian, and 95% of the time also female. They should be pulled over for that. I'm at the point I think all Asian women should have to take an annual driving test.

(Can you tell this happened to me yet again this morning)??

This man could not explain why, if he thought police had violated his rights by stopping him, he didn't file a complaint with that police department. Police only need a reasonable suspicion of criminal activity to conduct a Terry stop. If he thinks they didn't have that reasonable suspicion, he can take legal action. Apparently, he'd rather just gripe and claim he was a victim of racial harassment. Sounds he just wanted to get his picture in the paper.

You may have something there, but the "reasonable suspicion" is that they had a report of a black person committing a robbery. Does that mean that every single black person in a given locality is a suspect? Would you make the same assumption if it were a white that robbed the drugstore?

Re: Is There Such a Thing as "White Privilege"?

Funny how japs and chinesse aren't suffering the same consequences as the blacks or latinos.
I mean, do they have asian privileges? Is that it?

Why is it that when a white person does something worth praising like graduating college or having a good job or w/e, it's played down as being because he has privilege. I think it's dishonest and takes away from the merit. When an asian graduated college or has a good job and is living well off it isn't diminished even though both groups have high graduation rates. Why is that?

There is no such thing as race "privilege" in the way the OP and others try to make it seem.

Everyone gets what he deserves. if you work hard and put your mind to work you will succeed. Everyone faces the same adversity everyday.
You do drugs, you go to jail.

Whenever I see all those statistics about the number of blacks vs whites who go to prison for drug posession why is it that nobody talks about # of possesions. Prior convictions or amount carried.
It's all sanitized to paint a pretty picture.

I'm a critical thinker and I don't like it when things show up as being clear cut. It smells of dishonesty. It smells like someone is trying too hard to make a point that, if context were provided, it would vanish.

In the USA, the only people who have some hint of privilege are the politically-well-connected. They have privileges. As in things that they shouldn't have but have for no merit.
