So the moral here is for native americans to buck themselves up and go back in time and defeat the white invaders, so that they don't end up being mocked and degraded in pro team names and logos. Just think, then today *they* would be running pro sports teams with names like "Sioux Honkys"

Or we could just stop being douchebags to each other and pick another damn name

It would be hysterical if they made the Super Bowl, I'd love to see how fast the FCC backed down under pressure from the NFL.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

I'm not a fan of the FCC deciding what's derogatory or offensive.

That is the name of the team. How can a sports reporter be disallowed on air from accurately describing the team by their name? It's just stupid.

Is there a list of these 77 groups available somewhere?

In other words: Can you cite a source?

then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

Isn't this a proposed regulation of speech by an agency of the government? I would say more people are offended by the words politicians spew than announcers broadcasting a football game or the individuals on its home radio station...
I don't often change my signature, but this was just too over the top to let anyone forget with what this country is up against...

Don't know why i bother since 90% here don't give a damn what the minority wish but...

The first article says "77 native tribes, organizations, and supporters," which i read as 77 tribes plus supporters. Then another article says "the national congress of american indians...signed by 77 groups including the NAACP and anti defamation league."

i don't see an actual list but here's the articles:

Anti-Washington Redskins groups to send letter to every NFL player - ESPN

NFL players asked to support Redskins name change - The Washington Post

However, the NCAI decisions are dictated by votes from every tribe so...
