Wouldn't you just love to make the pollsters think they've figured out elections in advance only to get the shock of their lives?

Have you ever considered giving pollster false information on how you intend to vote if in fact you are ever surveyed?

Disclaimer: this is simply a question. This thread should in no way be construed to imply being dishonest with political pollsters is encouraged. Being truthful and forthright is recommended.

Anyone else see the humor in the irony here?

Edit: so the OP doesn't think I'm b/t/f, I thought it was funny to have a poll in a thread about lying to people taking a poll.

Many pollsters manipulate the statistics anyway. I don't even participate because I don't see a point.

i tell them the truth, and when they try to push poll me, i explain to them that their poll is a push poll, and i decline to answer the question.

This already happened in 2012.
A fairly large number of GOP pollsters thought Mitt was gonna win.
Dick Morris comes to mind.

Na. Ive been polled twice, and whenever a canvasser comes by my apartment or my old house I shared with roomies I always gave them honest information. Having done some polling and some canvassing I know what these people go through and what not.

Morris, Rove and another pollster--can't remember his name but the republicans like him because he tells them what they want to hear, Rasmussen I think--excluded. These guys fooled themselves. I theorize they needed to give a certain prediction possibly based on who was paying them, so the rewrote data analysis methodology so that the desired result would be calculated. They might have had some plausible justifications based on a serious stretch but I think they deliberately lied to themselves and crossed their fingers. Just my guess. If you observe the desperation of the GOP from 2008 to 2012 coupled with a few polls that are different than everybody else's with ties to the GOP, just makes you wonder.

Gallup also had Romney as the winner.

Thanks. I missed that one. 1 percentage point is a statistical tie though. I think what cost Romney the election was the surprising voter turnout backlash in swing states of minorities who, true or false, where made to think they were targeted by the GOP to make it just a little bit difficult for them get to the polls. I think he would have probably made a good POTUS. Maybe 2016. Although he says he's not interested there is some talk of trying to talk him into it. I don't see anybody in the current field who I think could beat Hillary Clinton except maybe Jeb Bush.
