Do you think that was Ray Rices first punch?

People are saying she's only with him bc of his money, and he's (was) her meal ticket. I disagree since they started dating in HS when there was no money! Anyway, since he graduated from a back handed slap to a full on punch, I highly doubt this was the first episode of domestic violence. I'm guessing people who have been close to the couple over the yrs will come out and share that this wasn't the first time.... or maybe it was.

My guess? No way in hell that was the first time. People who are abusive usually have a chronic history of abuse, by the time they are his age.

I would guess this has happened before. If not a full out assault, certainly some level of activity that I wouldn't stand for. Yup if he did this before, given how long they've been together, it may come out that he was less than chivalrous in the past.

It would be extreme naive to suggest that was the first time he ever hit a woman.

I suppose many of the wife beaters will come to his defense.

I seriously doubt we have any wife beaters here.

Some of the wife beaters I met ( one hit his wife/my friend in front of me once yrs ago) look and act like your everyday guy, and you wouldn't be able to pick them out from a lineup.

The ones I have known were exceedingly charming, and the life of every party. I always get suspicious when any man (or woman) appears too good to be true.

How the heck would I know that?

Though hey - I like a nice punch with a meal...

...like lemonade or Orange Dream Punch.

This is usually the pattern and without intervention such abuse becomes ever more violent.

Because it rarely happens in isolation. Character traits tend to be strongly expressed, and how you treat intimate partners is usually an established pattern of behavior. Although there is no way to prove it, I would bet a large sum of money on what I expect is the case here.
