But he didn't want to die, and he needed the money for all his medical treatments.

Initially he didn't want the treatment.

Made a impassioned and heart felt speech when they were passing the pillow around at is Intervention.

But true, he payed for that out of his pocket.

I can't remember if he counted out what he needed to Jesse before or after changing his mind about treatment. .

You are an IDIOT!! j/k again mods... yeah, I remember that a bit... he could have made it easier by counting cards or playing craps, which is all about math and odds anyway.

LOL !!

Its the Breaking Bad Fan site all over again.

I know.

Lizzie reminded me of his treatment and he did pay for that out of his pocket.

Hmmmm, I'll have to get my first season dvd's out and watch them again. My memory must be getting rusty.

Forget all that, in one of the first episodes he ****ing had a great job with complete benefits that would have paid for all his treatment thrown on his lap... and instead he decided to put his and his entire families life at risk to cook meth because he's actually not even an Anti-Hero, he's just a psychotic asshole.

A funny one at times I'll grant you that.

yep....retirement IS success and I haven't a care in the world...

oh..two. It is cloudy and I want it to be sunny..

and..

Hockey hasn't started, other than that, it's all good.

Oh wait, the "A" key has worn out on my keyboard, I guess I have to stop using it. But then I can muse all night on why the "A" key wears out all the time and "E" is the most used......or why the enter key never wears out...

Maybe its a conspiracy......

But a lovable psychotic asshole. I love the character.

I am not sure that he was a psychotic... just cold and calculating. I agree with the rest.

Of course I am. I keep getting better all the time, regardless of who is in power. But that's because the things that are really meaningful to me, are independent of who is in political or economic power. And if someone is living a life where that is not the case, I would strong advise you to make adjustments such that it is the case.

Considering I was a high school sophomore who only worked in the summer back then, yes. I make a lot more money now (which still isnt much lol) and I don't have my own health insurance. But I do have a car

I thnk it is because in Canuckistan that A is spelled eh and that may alleviate the problem, Eh?

Well if your'e up on your Organic Chemistry you could always liberate a 30 gallon drum of Methlymine, acquire a nice tube furnace, a nice boiling flask, a few other odds and ends and Cook Meth.

I hear the P2P method is all the rage.

Oh, and get a used Winnebago !!

Methlymine smells like dead fish wrapped in Gym socks so you'll need to move out to a remote location to conduct your " experiments."

Maybe I've been watching too much TV...

The funny thing is my concentration was in organic chemistry and whenever I tell people that the conversation inevitably goes towards discussing the synthesis of meth. Clearly there is some interest......but I don't think I have the guts to do it ;) (friend and classmate of mine got expelled for doing that :p )

Nope, and neither is Charleston.

Every time I turn around, it seems like another store I used to frequent is closing down. There are whole strip malls around here that are completely deserted.

He's certainly an egotistical and selfish asshole with something of an irrational hubristic streak working against his better judgement a lot of the time.

I'm not sure if I'd go as far as to call him "psychotic," though.

In 2008, I had a great job,at a very old, very stable factory. I had every reason to expect that that was the last job I would ever have, that I could work there until I was ready to retire.

In 2013, that factory was closed, putting me and about seven hundred other workers out of work.

I'm now nearing the end of my government-funded retraining for a new trade, and in a couple of months, I'm going to have to go out and find a job. I'm scared to death of that point. If I do not find work very quickly, at that point, my situation is going to become very dire.

The industry Im in sort of thrives even more during recessions so Im doing pretty well- I dont need to go to the office other than for big meetings since I can manage remotely so Im more or less semi-retired and Im only in my early forties. Another few years and I can fully retire since the money just keeps coming in.

Better, I'd say.
I was a Sr. Software engineer in 2008.
In late 2011 I was promoted to Staff Software Engineer and got a decent raise.
In early 2013 I was promoted to management and got a lackluster raise.
In mid-2013 I resigned from my job and became a consultant for a bit more money for 6 months.
In late 2013 I began to work for my current employer. There was a pay hit but it was more about positioning myself for the future.
In early 2014 my positioned formalized as VP of Technology for the same pay, but strong future prospects.

So strictly speaking in terms of money I peaked last year and have come down, but that was a deliberate sacrifice to re-position my career path for improved long-term viability and success. I suppose the fact I had the room to maneuver, though, is emblematic of my industry doing well.

Well, in 2008 I didn't have a high school diploma, and now I do. So I'd say I'm doing better.

Substantially better.

However, in 2008, I was 19 years old and traveling on half a shoe string. So... I don't know if that's a factor of the economy, or just a factor of me having more time to build my assets and applying my mind to other things -- such as building assets.

I will say this, however. I haven't really played the game the normal way expecting the economy to be my friend. I've taken some risks in some out-there things and sort of gone left of field in my employment, education, and how I handle money, and I think that's done nothing but help me.

And I will, in addition, say this. I haven't really upgraded my lifestyle much since I started making enough to have a basic apartment, which was quite a while ago. That's also helped me -- spending less than what you make always does. I just see no need for most of the extras.

I was in school in 2008 and now I'm out of school, unemployed and can't find a job in my field. I blame that on myself more than anything else because I did not select a degree with good job prospects. A BS in chemistry is of little use by itself. I plan on going back to school for medicine, but if that doesn't work out I would probably seek employment in China, which seems to have more opportunities in chemistry these days.

While you are there, you could consider doing halucinogenic Mushroom research and pure oncontaminated LSD?

In 2008 I was not teaching and had no academic titles. Now I am teaching and am A.B.D.

So definite improvement and it will be better.

Congrats, and, yes, finishing will be great. Are you shopping a post-doc?

In the fall of 2008 and like millions of other people, I lost 40% of my retirement fund. I try not to ever think about it.
