If the U.S. got involved in a war with Russia...

would those that keep complaining that Obama isn't doing enough (without any solutions of course) back him and the country and stop the petty snarking of of our CIC? I keep hearing how inept the president is and how they admire Putin, and just wonder if that would change?

The nuclear annihilation of our country would make that irrelevant.

That's a possibility but I don't think it would go that far. Maybe I'm naive but I believe it would be a contained regionally in the Ukraine, and believe, although Putin is egomaniac, he's not suicidal.

I believe if we started an offensive in Russia proper it would be a different story of course.

Thanks for you response but it would be nice if you voted.

A poll taken back in March showed 78% of respondents said Putin was a strong leader and only 48% said that about Obama.

That said, I don't think that has any bearing on what should be done about Russia or Syria or any place else right now. If Obama makes a decision to go to war, and it's a good one, he should get support.

Or are you asking if people will stop saying Putin is a better leader than Obama just because Obama takes action against Russia? I don't know why that would have any bearing.

Well Pakistan and India managed to go to war with each other whilest both sides had nuclear capacity, without anihalating each other.

But the fact that we are debating this is scary enought.

No not at all. Just asking a simple question.

Our country has come to the point where half the country doesn't support the president because he's on the other side of the aisle. It's happening with Obama and it happened with Bush, Carter, Reagan etc.

Just wondering if it got to the point where we had to get it together and be on the same side if we would?

I guess I didn't understand where you were going. It seems from this post that people saying Putin is a better leader than Obama isn't relevant.

To answer this question, probably not all Americans would get behind him because we seem to be split into 3s. Far right (who will always detest Obama), far left (who will always support him), and the middle who will swing around. I *think* most people would support a military action against Russia if it was the right thing to do, and I don't know if it's the right thing to do.

I didn't vote for Obama either time, but if he made a good decision that was collectively made by military experts and Congress, and not Valerie Jarrett, then yes, I would absolutely support him.

Suppose we just focused on preventing a war with Russia, that would cost far more blood and treasure then what we've seen in the ME. It's not worth it preventing what we in part caused.

Obama? He should be happy that Putin was playing the Europeans. You will admit that Putin played his game well. He showed up the EU for the hypocrites and irrealists they are and how well you can trust the EU to guaranty peace and security even in Europe and how that organization supports its friends after getting them into this mess. And here lies the upside for Obama deserved or not. Even the populations in the EU have noticed how unspeakable their politicians have acted and that the EU is not the guarantor of security the EU lobby has sold the "Always closer EU" project on.

You don't "THINK" it would go that far. The only reason to ever risk it would be if Russia was attempting to annex Florida by referendum, not Crimea or east Ukraine.
