Common sense is the least common of all the senses.
Suspicions confirmed.
Is there even such a thing as "common sense"?
Not even close, Wiki has a better definition:Common sense is a term used to belittle people who disagree with you or have a different way of viewing the world.
That is certainly your prerogative, even if it is misguided.I despise the term passionately.
When you can't address the argument attack the person... works on weak minded people.

One would think so, but as I interact and observe more and more, the less I think it exists at all. Even the simplest things no one can agree on. So, what's 'common' about anything?
No. The older I get the more I think "common sense" is merely something we want to believe in.

What?
It is common sense not to stick your hand into a fire... if you think otherwise I guess I would belittle you after you did it to make your point.
It is common sense that you should give me $500. The term 'common sense' is extremely vulnerable to abuse and misuse.
He was talking about how the primitive New Guinea people were quite a bit more intelligent
than the average westerner, and speculated that basically the dumb died quick.
You said it even better. And, sadly, you are correct.
Why is it common sense that I should give you money when I seriously need it? There is nothing common sense about it... though I do agree that the term can be abused.
You have to be joking. Everybody knows that you should give me $500. It's common sense. Surely you can't be that dense and lack that much common sense. I don't even understand why we are discussing this. After all. It's just plain common sense.
Common sense refers to reason and logic which are two of the most absolute, definitive things in existence. A true logical argument, based on valid premises, results in a fact. We need more facts these days and we need to work from these facts. When feelings are factored in, reason and logic go out the window- however, many people FEEL that irrational arguments are logical... which proves my point.
Nope... not correct.
Haven't philosophers been arguing these things for thousands of years? There is no such thing as absolute and definitive things or philosophy would have been eliminated.
I've never heard anyone define common sense that way. To me, it's about being open minded and rational.I sorta disagree with most of the posts here.
What most people believe to be common sense, is the consensus opinion of people who have never seriously studied the topic. It's their kneejerk reaction, nothing more and nothing less.
So does it exist? Absolutely. Is it the best answer to an issue? For simple issues, most likely. But for issues that require serious thought and research, rarely.
Maybe it's a term that gets misused more often that it gets used properly.Common sense is a term used to belittle people who disagree with you or have a different way of viewing the world. I despise the term passionately.
