Electing a fat President wouldn't be sending the wrong message, as it has no bearing on their qualifications for the job. Promoting their physical state as healthy and one that's worthy of emulation, however, would.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

This is very important stuff people. I remember as a child how I looked to Ronald Regan as a model for my fitness and physique. And as a teen, with Bill Clinton?? I was so disappointed with his lack of 6 pack abs. My world was literally shaken. I didn't know where to turn to validate my self image, because my President, who I rarely ever thought about as a kid, wasn't in prime shape.

Kids look to role models who are interesting. Presidents aren't that interesting to kids. Depending on their age, they'd rather meet someone in a Batman costume or a professional athlete.

Now you're pushing the envelope. Christie in a Batman costume as president is over the top. He can be president and be fat. He can be Batman. But, he can't be president, be fat, and be Batman too. It's just too much.

As a child, you looked to a 70+ year old man as your fitness role model?

I guarantee you that you were in the tiny minority.

Kids look to movie/tv stars or athletes; not politicians - especially senior citizen politicians - as their fitness role models.

And you were disappointed because Clinton did not have 6 pack abs.

Is this a joke...what possible difference does it make?

No, this isn't 'important stuff'...this is trivial stuff.

No offense, but any child who will get fat STRICTLY because the POTUS is fat needs to have his/her head examined.

I guarantee you almost any child in their right mind will be far more interested in keeping fit to impress the boy/girl they have a crush on then because the POTUS is fit.

NO! You must be some super high influence character on this forum! Do you realize what you've just done!?! You've come into a crowd think thread and actually posted the truth!

You must have some unforeseen incredible pull here. I feel the missiles of mass ignorance bouncing off you somehow! Mesmerizing! Mountains fall before you oh honest one!

I#m sorry. :3oops:

Be careful, Crippler. Some people are so clueless they might take you seriously.

I'm glad my country has a leader the world can look up to:

He maybe fit (which is cool), but in a lot of other ways, Aussies should be embarrassed by this guy

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

But global image is how you are perceived whether you like it or not.

Putin has a stronger image than tall lanky, aloof Obama, so he rapes him in the headlines in the globes view. That's how it works. Just imagine if tall lanky, aloof Obama is being raped in global headlines by Putin, just imagine how plump Hillary or sumo Christie or 20 pound face Jeb will fare..

Uhhhh..... so we care what the headlines say about the President more than how his leadership makes our country strong?

Also if you think the "raped in the headlines" is about Obama's appearance you are fooling yourself. Its about Obama "."

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

As long as their policy is solid, they could be 450 pounds and I would vote for them. Sending the wrong message to our children is continuing to elect people from the two major parties that long ago lost the ability to serve the American people.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children?

Should this even be allowed considering the health message it sends to US children that the leader of the free world can be medically fat?

Technically, yes it does send a wrong message to children, but compared to the weightier responsibilities of their office it falls dead last on my list of priorities. It's like the need to reorganize the shelves in my studio: yeah, it needs to be done, but you know...maybe next week.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Ya know what?

**** the children. If they can't tell the ****ing difference between a fat president and a fit one, and their parents are too ****ing stupid to mention to them at some point that it isn't really good to be too fat, and they're too dimwitted to figure it out for themselves, then **** the children.

Why the **** does everything have to be about the ****ing children anyway?

I mean ****, we take the ****ing children to the ****ing gay pride day parade, we take the ****ing children to see the ****ing South Park Movie, hell some people probably take the ****ing children to see Fifty ****ing Shades of Grey, and yet we're going to worry about a fat ****ing President?

I don't give a ****.

OMG I am so embarrassed. :3oops:

And I have a hangover.

Sorry about all that...

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Let me break this down for you. You commented:

Such is why Putin disrespects Obama as does China. Imagery and imagery classification are everything.

To which I responded:

Um... I'm a bit confused. What about Obama's physical appearance causes disrespect?

This is a thread about physical appearance, is it not? Obama is definitely not obese.

To which you responded:

You're definitely a bit confused but I'd be remiss if I didn't admit I hadn't long ago figured that one out after your Chris Christie and Putin comment hun.
I respect your absolute sincerity in your obliviousness though. I truly do.
Any human being who could possibly think that Chris Christie and Putin stacked up against each other on a global imagery stage is a good idea is truly beyond my most wild nightmare in comprehension.

If you're incapable of addressing a simple, point-blank question, that's on you, hun.

To be fair, I did notice this comment later:

But global image is how you are perceived whether you like it or not.

So... Christie's too fat, Obama's too thin...:thinking

Me thinks you must either be a teenager, or live in Hollywood. You are way too image obsessed. They have doctors for that sort of thing.

Just sayin.

You know, Ryan, when I've considered my Presidential choices, it has never occurred to me once what message is being sent to children.

Hey! If we find one that "fits," we can simply hand him/her a collection of Dr. Seuss as a guide to foreign policy.

World peace will be achieved over green eggs & ham. Oh! The possibilities....

I see it's already too late.

if my children need to look to someone who maintains a fit lifestyle and stays in relatively good shape, then they need look no further than their father. Isn't that the way it should be? Aren't we as parents the primary role model for our children? Even if they won't admit it?

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children?

If by 'wrong message' you mean acceptance of people for who they are and not what they look like, then yes.

Our PM is fat, but I've never seen anyone make an issue of it. What matters is his policies, viewpoints and how he runs the country.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Oh.... I just thought you should know.... A more RECENT photo of Chris Christie....

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Christie is fat and could have a heart attack as President.
Palin is stupid and shouldn't be allowed in the same country as our nuclear weapons.
But you knew that so why ask ?

Didn't Dick Cheney have heart problems? He still got elected as VP.
