Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

And you'd like to have a fit moron like Palin backing him up?
I might add _______ .

No, I wouldn't want an asshat like Palin anywhere remotely near Washington D.C. Find me someone intelligent and rational to fill the second seat.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

I said interconnected, not utterly linked.

One is not contingent on the other.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

First off they're both fat because of lifestyle choices that led to any mentioned conditions that might have deteriorated their health more so.

Children don't see all your analytic stuff though. They look at the TV and see a medically fat person running the world. In charge of the nuclear submarines. Running everyone's lives. Is that really the correct message US children should be having in their minds as they stare at the TV? I say no. Not only do I say no but I say that something is seriously wrong with our society if the answer could possibly be yes.

The message you are sending is that the position of U.S. President should be decided upon the same way as the ****ing Prom Queen or Class President.

Thats just crazy talk.

Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children?

Should this even be allowed considering the health message it sends to US children that the leader of the free world can be medically fat?

Ya know what?

**** the children. If they can't tell the ****ing difference between a fat president and a fit one, and their parents are too ****ing stupid to mention to them at some point that it isn't really good to be too fat, and they're too dimwitted to figure it out for themselves, then **** the children.

Why the **** does everything have to be about the ****ing children anyway?

I mean ****, we take the ****ing children to the ****ing gay pride day parade, we take the ****ing children to see the ****ing South Park Movie, hell some people probably take the ****ing children to see Fifty ****ing Shades of Grey, and yet we're going to worry about a fat ****ing President?

I don't give a ****.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Is electing an incompetent unqualified person to be President just because he can read a speech written by someone else from a teleprompter with enthusiasm sending the wrong message?

I would be more concerned about that, than if the person has gained weight - because weight is sometimes due to a medical issue, like menopause in the case of Hillary, or Thyroid in the case of Christie.

Ok, I like Christie, but he is fat due to a lack of willpower, not some thyroid issue (thyroid issue is what ever obese person uses as an excuse). We all burn 5 calories per liter of oxygen. It doesn't matter if you are male or female, young or old, we all burn 5 calories per liter of oxygen. Sure, as you get older your body is more apt to increase fat stores when you take in excess calories than it is to build muscle (so the older we get the less room we have to cheat in terms of diet), but put anyone in a room, feed them through a slot, and you can get them down to whatever weight you want them to be.

At any rate, I think a candidate's positions and qualifications are the most important factor, but health is a factor as well. If Christie wants to be president he need to lose a lot of weight, as it is, statistically he would be lucky to live long enough to fill a 4 year term and make it to 2020.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Christie is fat and could have a heart attack as President.
Palin is stupid and shouldn't be allowed in the same country as our nuclear weapons.
But you knew that so why ask ?
Yet neither has anything to do with the poll question, except possibly Christie, if only because he's overweight and the poll question is about that.

But we could just as easily be talking about anyone who is overweight.

Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children?

Lol. It doesn't matter in my opinion. Electing a cigarette smoker sends a far worse message because not only is it an unhealthy lifestyle, it's the height of inconsideration because smokers force others to to inhale their pollutants. We elected president Obama and it was never a consideration. Thankfully he did quit, to be fair.

Btw: many factors contribute to people being overweight and a lot of it has to do with personal rates of metabolism, which can be different for each person. Overweight problems are often automatically presumed to be because of gluttony. That can be a reason, but it's not necessarily the reason.

- thyroid imbalances
- crazy schedules such as working nights
- genetic predispositions to be husky
- eating normal portions but of unhealthy foods often out of ignorance
- younger people or people on budgets living in household where somebody else chooses what that family eats and its unhealthy food
- having a disability that restricts physical activity
- becoming pregnant
- having been pregnant

All these can lead to obesity and it's not because the person stuffs their face.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Think of it this way. Chris Christie is 51. So that means in 2016 he will be at least 53. If he were elected, by 2020 he would be at least 57. How many people as morbidly obese as he is typically live past their early 50s? Not many and the vast majority of those that do are hardly mobile by the time they get close to 60. I don't think weight should normally be an issue with electing a president. However, if a candidate is morbidly obese, then that is an issue because it calls into question whether they are going to be physically able to handle the rigors of the job and live long enough to serve their term out. I like Chris Christie, I think he is one of the most likable politicians of my adult life. However, the presidency ages even the healthiest of men (look at Bush in 2000 compared to 2008), and if he wants to be president he needs to lose a lot of weight.

Because that's done so much for Stephen Hawking.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

So you admit that Christie is appropriate to the question.
But you won't admit that the VP isn't appropriate.
Imagine Dan Quayle trying to put together Desert Storm if Bush--41 had died due to being overweight .

I never said it was impossible to be both a genius and physically disabled., or smart and fat.

But my understanding is that physical health and mental health are interwoven to some degree, and that improving one will help the other, at least slightly.

Who the hell cares???? Of the VERY long list of things to worry about in the qualities of a president that would be near the bottom. Only a bunch of nosey do-gooding busy body fools would even begin to worry over such a thing.

Re: Is electing a medically fat US President sending the wrong message to US children

Meanwhile, let's keep feeding the kids salt-laced garbage for lunch so another generation of kids goes obese.
Get the kids hooked on the drug sodium in their food and cause blood pressure to skyrocket.
Then pretend health costs won't balloon as they are doing right now with a sick baby-boomer generation.
Finish it off by stalling healthy meals in the House because Michelle Obama is the First Lady .
Ya know what?

But you won't admit that the VP isn't appropriate.

There was no admission involved.

I repeat that Christie is only relevant to the question because he happens to be overweight. Those other names, unless they are overweight, are irrelevant to the question.

The question, in case you forgot, was whether having an overweight president would send the wrong message to children.

IMO we have vastly more important questions than such a trivial matter, and there is no way in hell I'd seriously consider that question as the deciding factor in a vote I make.

Still, I'd put Stephen Hawking or Chris Christie in the White House long before Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid.
