Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

How could they not objectively report on this as most of them were smack dab in the middle of it and they were reporting on what you could see with your own eyes. A stupid partisan thread.

How can they fail to ? How can two people look at a partly filled glass and not see it half full ?
One sees the world through the prism of their background so there is always potential for different people to see the same thing in very different ways.

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

To answer the OP, yes they fail.
To be fair they have always failed. Its the nature of it. There are a million decisions made crafting media coverage and every one of them are influenced by personal bias. The same camera angle can give very different impressions simply by how wide the frame or how narrow. And nothing is published without editing so there are at least two people involved both of which add their own bias.
The media have always been unobjective and always will.

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

Nope. Police have had a heavy handed response, they have arrested protesters, they press, there have been rioters, and there have been peaceful protesters (the vast majority). Thats the facts. Dont know whats wrong with the reporting of that?

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

Yes absolutely, somebody on nbc said that Brown was shot in the back and that was proven false in the autopsy. They jeopardized a case to slander the police. meanwhile the culture whores are going nuts because they want justice. Well shut the **** up and let the justice system work for Christ's sake. Lynch mobs aren't justice. The police officer that shot brown is innocent until PROVEN guilty. Don't these idiots realize it could be their neck in the noose?

I voted yes because you didn't include an option for HELL yes!

Most of the people who are pro brown have been proven wrong, sadly this is turning into a black white thing where the huge majority of blacks support brown and the huge majority of whites support the police officer.........What is sad the black want to hang the police officer before his side of the story comes out just like in the OJ Simpson case....I am beginning to wonder if blacks will ever put their racism aside and judge someone on the merits of the case.

It isn't about Disneydude nor your antipathy for him either, but you wasted no ****ing time bringing it up.

Actually this thread is about the three of you.

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

At least you can turn on Fox or MSNBC and get news that doesn't involve this story.

Good point.
Limbaugh calls it "the drive by" media.
I wish this was true.
But instead of reporting the story and then driving to the next story, they get out of their news vans
and loiter around, interviewing any and all yayhoos and sending pundits to the scene.
This may continue for weeks.
At least CNN has something bright and shiny to focus on.
I got pretty tired of their wall-to-wall coverage of the missing airliner.

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

The press fails to objectively cover ANYTHING. The press is all about agenda, not about telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. You can't trust anything you see in the media.

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

Do I think the press is failing to cover this situation objectively?

How could it be failing, considering all the various aspects of it people here know no matter their opinion on the subject?

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

CNN is obsessed with this story, and the big, bad, evil, racist cops who run around the country.

Fox has been multi-dimensional about the story, bringing in both sides, and also reporting on the hideous behavior of the looters.

MSNBC has been a little in the middle, mostly tipping to the "bad cop" angle but with less obsession than CNN.

At least you can turn on Fox or MSNBC and get news that doesn't involve this story.

I'm very disappointed in CNN. It's like they are some kid wandering around the halls in school looking for someone to be their friend and every person they walk up to they act like they are so concerned about their problems and then change diametrically when they talk to the next kid.

It's sad.

How the mighty have fallen. Once upon a time, they were second to none.

Amen... and Amen. Very good post (as usual).

That's funny because you're right - there was a time that all we heard about was the airliner. Now they've moved on to this. I wonder what's next...and I wonder when they ever plan to go back to decent journalism & reporting?

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

Your thoughts please.

The press is putting out info that has not been proven. They are only concerned with ratings. The more they sensationalize the story, the more people will pay attention. None of them have any credibility.

That isn't quite fair. Not all black people side with brown. My first partner (from work) and I were talking about it. Just like there are some white people that are racist some black people, Asian people and everybody else are racist.

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

Its all part of the media narrative. Predictable as they did the same thing with Trayvon Martin, as I pointed out. Especially by MsNBC. They're usually the ring leader of the clown circus.

Do you want to explain to all of us what your problem is with the story?

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

No, no. Blacks can't be racist because of history and stuff.

You are not explaining yourself. Your answer here is somewhat circular / a bunch of jibberish. Please explain how is an article about a kid and his aspirations is somehow offensive to you.

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

I didn't say it was offensive.

Offensive meaning it offended your sensibilities in some manner or you would not have posted. You still are failing to explain what your problem is with the article. You just posted it and said the beatification begins. What do you mean? The article seems rather benign.

Excuse me, but this was all live coverage...

Re: Do you think the press is failing to objectively cover the situation in Ferguson,

There was a time in which we only had a couple hours of news on tv a day. Now, we got 24 hours.

So the news station got to fill all that time. So something like Ferguson or the missing Malaysian plane are an opportunity for news crew to fill up alot of air time. Plus,,,,we are all Rubber Neckers whether we admit it or not. We all flip on the channel to see if they were rioting again in Ferguson.

And if it is a slow news day the reporters can make up the news. We all saw that on the video a few years back of a FOX news reporter waving her arms up to encourage a rallying crowd to be noisier for the cameras.

No news, no problem , we can just make it up.
