Who's Going to Buy/Read Paul Ryan's New Book?

Will you read Paul Ryan's Book?

Even Samuel L. Jackson says that's why he voted for Obama, because he was black. I think there's a lot more influence there than you're willing to give credit to. It was the grassroots, not the Democratic political machine that won.

I'm giving credit in the right proportion. It was more than grass roots, it was grass roots combined with the Machine. Not just simply the Dem machine, that came later, and has been transformed. I'm talking the REAL machine, the Machine I see with every move Obama makes that drives GOPers and myself at times, NUTS. The Chicago Machine.

It's what brought him up, it's what got him elected, and it's how he governs.

If you're unfamiliar, here's a good synopsis by an outsider, and victim.

How the Chicago Machine Works | Jay Stone for Mayor of Chicago

did you make time for Krauthammer?

Krauthammer is such a total sh*tbag. He takes extremely complicated issued and perverts them taking out nearly all of the context and history to attack Democrats while leaving out that Republicans share the blame.

Ever read some of his opinion pieces? It is amazing that he doesn't get castrated by the intellectuals of the GOP for being a total vomit bag.

Boehner once said he wasn't an expert on the economy--good thing for him Paul Ryan is.

I'll be interested to hear the excerpts on Jack Kemp, the falling apart of Simpson/Bowles,
the falling apart of the Supercommittee, and the failed Grand Bargain of 2011, for starters .

The Way Forward: Renewing the American Idea: Paul Ryan: 9781455557561: Amazon.com: Books

I'm not a real big fan of Paul Ryan myself. I think he's an Establishment player who derides the government, calls for less government, all the while never holding a job outside the government.

Having said that, he's here, he's a media darling, and he is a player. So, I just ordered his book and hope to God that it is more interesting than I fear...

Who else has bought/will buy?

What do you think of him?

Is he a contender?

*** Some autofill nonsense happened with the poll, the first choice is simply "Yes"

I will defintely buy it and read it but then I bought Hillary's trashy book to........Go figure.

I applaud your staunch fiscal conservatism, Mr. Cheapskate.;)

Actually now that I realize the thread didn't say Rand Paul, I won't end up even bothering to read this or download it. If I want to hear rich people moan I'll turn on Fox News. Paul Ryan is a hack.

I'll wait a couple weeks when it will be at the 99 cent store.

Omg one rich leftist out of thousands of super rich capitalists..

I should have asked the nos do you know how to read........my bad.........

I don't need to read his book, I already know that he's an Ayn Rand ditto-head and a long-time government employee who has no use for the government except making a living from it.

 the irony is strong with this post. :) Ryan's push is to strip out Ayn Randish makers-and-takers philosophy.

Actually the highest-income counties also tend to be among the bluest.

He's actually the representative for my district. Don't like the guy but apparently he want's to set the record straight with his book. Says that he has a bad time expressing his message to people and that the media took him all wrong. That may be true but it sounds like re-branding bull**** to me.

Not I. While I have no faith or love for Obama or the Democrats, I equally have no love for the religious reich and the Republicans. Both parties need to chart an entirely new course before I'll really be interested in what they have to say.

I agree completely.

I go toward that which I'd presume to oppose sooner than that with which I'd be apt to agree.

I want to be certain I hate it. As far as HRC is concerned, I'm sure of it -- I hate her.

I won't go this far but I do think he's over-rated.

Ryan is a loser who will never see the inside of the White House except as a guest.

 if that's the best response you have to being 100% wrong about the topic, okay :)

When his dad died, his family depended on these programs to make it. I'd say the caricature that he's the kind of person who looks down on (as he puts it) the majority of Americans who at one point or another in their lives need some form of assistance is very likely to be false. People tend not to denigrate their own history.

Yeah, but here's the thing, he's a policy wonk, this means he speaks wonkanese. Most Americans don't. Most analyses I've seen of his policy papers puts him as a big spending republican.

Here's the problem. He's going after that which can't be screwed up and people don't have the faith in their government to not screw it up. When you've got opposition with interests in seeing you fail, regardless if you're policy is 98% the same as theirs, you're gonna lock tusks with the Glory Hogs and they're gonna scream "murderous, capitalist pig!" at ya and to anyone who'll listen.

This makes it difficult to explain the nuanced and delicate, as I'm sure you can understand.

Rubbish. The reason the GOP is in such disarray is their economic policies. Obama and the like didn't get elected because gays weren't allowed to marry or that abortion is an abomination they lost because of their support and their policies which on the surface seem fair and balanced, are great in theory, but at root only help the upper class and rich. The bailout of corporations, the idea that corporations are people all that BS, THAT is what cost them because THAT crap is what sent the middle, the independents, the fence sitters running full steam to the Left.

It is completely fallacious to think that the GOP's problem, that the reason why they're in disarray is due to cultural and social issues.

It's -- to quote Carville -- "the economy, stupid."

No, obama won because the young voters turned out. Young voters dont vote on economic issues.

Ryan and others can see that changes to entitlements must be made or they will cease to exist. He is merely wanting to have the uncomfortable conversation regarding how the g can say no to some things.

Its coming folks, the boomers are retiring and the mellinials are failing to launch professionally and socially.

Who will pay for the entitlement generation?
