Do you want to be president?

If you didn't have to campaign, and could work for a max of 8 years?

**** no.... Presidents are over rated.

I wouldn't mind being on the cabinet though.

I would be a terrible president. But I would make for a GREAT dictator.

Besides, I inhaled. Over and over again.

There goes my chances at President. LOL!

^ Plus presidents don't get payed nearly enough without things like speeches (thank god I'm a great orator but still...).

no....

i would never put my family through the scrutiny and crap that politicians deal with now

everyone on the other side looking for any little morsel in your background

having your life turned upside down by the media and press

the job itself.....not sure i have the "right stuff"

and i definitely dont have the poker face ability to lie to people

I wonder how a president can only make 500k (expenses included,) a year and still be a millionaire?

Deferred bribery, that's how. "Do this favor for me now and I will give you 100k for a 15 minute speaking engagement when you get out of office."

My favorite is, "I will buy 5000 copies of your book if you hook a brother up on this federal contract."

****ing crooks. All of them.

With a little bit of practice, you'll have that down pat in no time.

The hardest part is not messing up the old lies with the new ones.

Only if I could be an emperor like the current President.

My VP would be James Woods.

Not in a million years. You couldn't pay me enough for the job. No, no, no and more no.

But if I ended up as POTUS somehow, who would my Veep be? Jon Huntsman, because I'd do my damndest to get impeached or something that would get me the **** out of the job, and then he's be President.

Yeah, but if you don't have to care about getting elected or re-elected, what does that matter?

I wouldn't want to be president but I wouldn't mind being Si Robertson's VP.

No.

Because of many reasons but let's start with the ones who may upset some people. Because power, real power and really, the only kind of power that counts, is not in politics, finance or any of such "fields" that people usually associate. There is just 1 true source of power and that's knowledge and technology. Anything else is a mirage. But technology... that's real.

So if you want real change, don't put your hope in politics, put it in technology and science. That's the only real source of change because it is the only real source of power.
So why trade the path I'm on with an inferior one, as in, being in politics.

Not a chance. Too much politicking and ass-kissing involved.

You people dissapoint me, treating a function in state with such stereotypical views. You, intelligent writers on this forum, should be the favorites to think it through.

Yes, I would be president, prime-minister, or anything that brings me the possibility and power to do something for the good functioning of my country. Note that I don't say entering in politics is the only way to do something good for the state.

It is a matter of education. One individual, if educated since birth in a specific manner, can stand against most of the negative factors and obstacles that get in his/her way, like coruption.

If you continue the stereotype that politicians lie and steal and do ****, the younger ones will think that this is what actually means politics(as not many search, even on internet, the true meaning of politics).
Do I have to remember why "poli-tikos" have been used, since back then in Ancient Greek, and even earlier, between tribes?

At least consider than anything is a mere tool, and it depends on the user how it's used.

Science and technology can bring more harm, if "the powers", great or small, use them wrong.

Yes, well, the point is not the end effect, it's where does real power lie.
The world today is as good as it is because of science and technology and as bad as it is because of petty politics.

This is delusional cynicism if you'll pardon the offense. The Presidency is an enormously powerful tool for affecting national and global policy on almost every subject imaginable--including science & technology. As President you would be in an unparalleled position to champion funding for NIH, DARPA, NASA, and slew of other institutions. Just look at the Human Brain Initiative, Exascale computing, and the reversal of stem cell funding policies as some of the more famous examples. Beyond that the President has the ability to support loan initiatives and similar policies to back promising companies (a la Tesla). Furthermore as President you could conceivably devote a considerable amount of your agenda to a completely new scientific or technological initiative if you so desired.

Unless you are the next Elon Musk I highly doubt you could do more to advance the fields of Science or do more to develop new technologies on your chosen career path than the President of the United States.

Nope.

But since we're fantasizing, I'd rather be queen, with complete control. (yes, benevolent dictator)

I think I'd go with Sean Bean as prince-husband (not king...remember, I'm in charge)

Do you have evidence of book sales or speaking fees being well outside market value at the time?

Wait, what?
