It is a shame our African-American brothers and sisters cannot enjoy the right to peaceful assembly. I wonder what it is about their culture that makes it almost impossible to remain peaceful during said assemblies? All it takes is a handful of punk thugs to ruin it for them all. I think their anger is somewhat misdirected.

More and more, cities and counties are restricting the use of rap artists and R&B artists from having concerts at local fairs and festivals simply because the crowds do not seem to be able to assemble without violence. Why is that?

With his hands up, 25-30 feet away? I do believe he was facing the officer, because he was laying face forward in that direction, and shot in the front of his body.

My OP was not so much about the details of this incident, which I actually believe maybe just, especially seeing his demeanor in the convenience store, though that probably wouldn't be relevant in court. It was more about what's causing such a vehement reaction by the people? I think it's indicative of a wider social schism than a few unjust acts by LEO.

If the bullet entered his arm in the front of his arm, he couldn't have had his hands up.

The toxicology report will be the next shoe to drop. Could be very interesting.

Here's the crazier thing. As of right now the leading response to this poll is "police injustice" even though the evidence is now showing that it was probably a good shoot. Its not just the people who may have valid reasons to get ginned up by idiots like Sharpton. Its also sheeple who blindly follow the media narrative and who apparently like to visit political forums.

I voted "Crazy People". These idiots - the rioters, looters, et al - are crazy. And they allow themselves to be spurred on by people we KNOW are crazy, like Al Sharpton. Sharpton is a race baiter, nothing more & nothing less. A crazy, maniacal race baiter. The idiots who are looting & rioting are whining, disgusting SOBs who are using this dead kid for their own gain, and anyone who thinks otherwise is crazy too.

Don't make the mistake of presuming that someone who just committed a violent felony and whose getaway method was strolling down the middle of the street would have any sense.

Well that would be true. Brown didn't know the officer didn't know he committed the offense.

I wonder when the dust settles how many of those Ferguson cops are going to put in for a transfer to a different police department? You couldn't pay me enough to be a cop there now, and if my husband was one, I would hound him until he GTFO of there.

Sharpton....he should have gone away when the Tawana Brawley lies were exposed, but he didn't. And when the lies of the hooker who made false accusations against the Duke Lacrosse players were exposed, he didn't go away then either. But people lap up the **** he spoon feeds them anyway.

Race baiting is a growth business.

That's according to the repair script the protest side has been sloganizing. Some accounts have him getting the call before the struggle began.

The term "good shoot" just makes me ****ing cringe.

Ferguson is just another chance for race baiters to bang the drum and celebrate a blood orgy. When the dust has settled, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and yes, even Lew Alcindor will crawl back into their sewers and wait for the next tragedy to exploit. What they WILL NJOT DO is aggressively work to change circumstance. They will not aggressively move to change attitude and behaviors. They will not clamor for personal responsibility and real growth, real hope, and real change. Ferguson is a pimple.

His name is not 'Lew Alcindor'. It's Kareem Abdul Jabbar. You belittle yourself in your attempt to belittle him.

PS It's not Cassius Clay, either. Just in case you were wondering. It's Muhammad Ali.

Here we go again. It seems that we will never be able to get away from playing the victim card. I could write pages and pages on why the black community can no longer legitimatly play the victim card but I will spare my fingers and my brain the effort. It's late and I am tired. All I will say is there has got to come a time where playing victim is no longer a legitimate defense to defending a violent culture.

Thank you for sparing us.

Really, I thought I heard that from the officer giving the press conference.

I hope a lot of them do, Tres. They clearly don't have a clue how to do their jobs. Maybe the next group they get in will include a number of African Americans (gasp!) and that they can do their jobs without dressing and arming themselves like Seal Team Six.

Getting shot and fleeing, then suddenly stopping and turning around to face the shooter isn't sensible for most anyone, unless he was on PCP, or afraid of getting shot again.

He may have dropped his arms after the gun fire started or got a head shot first.

The head shot was the only fatal shot which means he would have gone down after that shot. How would he have received the other shots then?

Which head shot? There were two. And not all fatal shots are instantaneous.

I don't know which one was the fatal shot. Was there an eye shot? It is hard to tell on the drawing.

So the police officer shoots him in the head, he dies, and then the officer shoots him 5 more times? I don't think so--and if that were the case, that would be just as unacceptable.

But the NYT article tells a different story:

"One of the bullets entered the top of Mr. Brown’s skull, suggesting his head was bent forward when it struck him and caused a fatal injury, according to Dr. Michael M. Baden, the former chief medical examiner for the City of New York, who flew to Missouri on Sunday at the family’s request to conduct the separate autopsy. It was likely the last of bullets to hit him, he said."

How about a 21 yo guy 5 times? What measure are you using for your opinion?

Shooting an 18-year old guy 6 times is not justified.

The fatal one is supposedly the one that entered the top of his skull. The bullets made multiple entry and exit wounds from the front. The two head shots exited, suggesting he was leaning forward at this point.

Another believer in "black culture"?

According to the drawing from Baden, there are no exit wounds at all.
