We have a few teachers that do bad things. Let's put cameras on all teachers. We have few fast food workers who urinate in the dishwashers and drop burgers on the floor. Lets make all fast food workers wear cameras. We have a few babysitters who hurt the children in their charge. Let's make all babysitters, nannies and day care workers wear cameras. We have a few mailmen who were caught tossing out mail. Let's make all mailmen wear cameras and have them mounted in their trucks.

Most fast food places have cameras on the workers. I support classroom cameras for teachers, recalling how different they acted whenever a principal or outsider entered the classroom. However, few workers have as difficult a job, as bad of a track record, and an ability to do as much harm as the police.

Douche Cops like this are the reason why every cop should have a personal cam. Props to the other cop for making the angry cop back up. Wonder what the angry fat guy would have done if there was no recording and no witnesses around.....

MOST cops are good people, not "many". Most.

The video above pretty much reinforces what I posted earlier about the mental defect in most alpha-male types that leads them into becoming police in the first place. I hope that fat ass pig get's his ass run off from the police department. But we all know better than that, don't we?

All 900,000 are not out of control, but a nonzero number are. And we have no way of telling which one is which. They don't wear "good cop", "bad cop" badges. And the good ones cover for the bad (which isn't a good thing in the least), which makes it harder to control.

All government necessitates constraint and control, it must be watched by very property of the power government wields.

And if Mailmen enforced law and shot the public as much as cops, then yes they should have to wear cameras too.

I don't know why anyone would want to be a cop in this country. It's pathetic the way people are acting like all 300+ million of us have a reason to fear them.

That's my assessment of the crap I've read for 5 days on here.
Agreed, some people take the extreme that either "all cops are bad and evil", or "all cops are as honest and pure as the driven snow". Neither is accurate.

Should the entire population fear them? "Fear" might be a bit hyperbolic, but the fact remains that there are indeed bad no-good cops out there, and people should always be wary simply because at any given interaction you flat-out don't know whether you'll get a good one or a bad one. The stakes are too high to be too trusting.

Re: Should All Police Have to Wear Body Cameras?

[/B]Veteran Cop: 'If You Don't Want To Get Shot,' Shut Up -- Even If We're Violating Your Rights

Sunil Dutta, a 17-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department and professor of homeland security at Colorado Tech University, has a suggestion for victims of police violence searching for someone to blame: Look in the mirror.

In a column published Tuesday in The Washington Post titled, "I’m a cop. If you don’t want to get hurt, don’t challenge me," Dutta responds to mounting criticism of the policing tactics on display in Ferguson, Missouri, amid the hyper-militarization of law enforcement and accusations that officers have violated the First Amendment rights of both demonstrators and journalists covering the events. In a particularly telling passage, Dutta argues that citizens could deter police brutality if they were simply more cooperative, even when they're unjustly targeted.

"Even though it might sound harsh and impolitic, here is the bottom line: if you don’t want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, just do what I tell you," he writes. "Don’t argue with me, don’t call me names, don’t tell me that I can’t stop you, don’t say I’m a racist pig, don’t threaten that you’ll sue me and take away my badge. Don’t scream at me that you pay my salary, and don’t even think of aggressively walking towards me. Most field stops are complete in minutes. How difficult is it to cooperate for that long?"
This cop is an idiot. This sets up a situation where they can take away our freedoms and the only downfall for the bad cops is an insurance payment or courtsettlement. Basically let cops do wrong to you and accept a payment later, assuming they dont bury you under false reports.

Unfortunately, it is good advice. It is better to let them do their thing, even if it is illegal, and sue them later rather than risk getting falsely arrested, beaten or killed.

Generally the worst that can happen to a cop who breaks the law or commits other forms of misconduct is getting fired. Many are able to get a job in another jurisdiction later on. A very small number face criminal charges or get sued. Most misconduct or wrongful death lawsuits are paid by the government (taxpayers). The funds don't even come from the police department's budget.

You said many yourself, but if you want to change it to most, okay. Doesn't change my argument, nor does it make it necessary to put cameras on everyone. Why such a claim is idiotic has already been addressed by multiple posters.
