The rock we live on can probably be destroyed only from the impact of a meteor or other large object.
All life on earth could be destroyed by anything, natural or man-made, that prevents the reception of the sun's essential waves/particles or that causes the poisoning or other significant harmful change to the composition of the air and water. That could be caused by a huge volcano or by our actions. It is most likely to happen during a war, especially if a large number of nukes are used.
The destruction of all humans is more likely than the destruction of all life because human's are dependent on many natural systems continuing to function as they have been.
One of the most likely scenarios for the end of human life is over-population causing continuous and excessive poisoning of the air and water with associated atmospheric changes causing a reduction or change to the sun's waves/particles and those changes killing us by poisoning or with cancer.
The other most likely scenario is large scale nuclear war (which is more likely with over-population) killing off all humans with both the initial heat, shockwaves and collapsing structures followed by the cancer death of the survivors from the bomb's radiation or from the changes to the sun's waves/particles caused by the nuclear explosion impacting the protective atmospheric layers.
Even with an extremely cataclysmic event it may happen that all humans will not die, instead the survivors may return to a more primitive dark ages style of living with little technology available.
