Tough crowd on this board.

At the risk of having insults lobbed at me, I will say that I think the question in the poll isn't all that unreasonable given how unsettled some parts of this world are. We had 2 world wars in the last 100 years. It's not like he asked about the possibility of another virgin birth or sacrificing Christians to lions.

I'm also watching my spelling.

We've also had zero in the last 60 years.

We've also had zero in the last 60 years.

I do have a question though; How does one define "World War"? If all that is require is to be engaged in armed conflict around the world, then couldn't one argue that the War on Terror is World War III? Do millions have to die before it get's that moniker?

If all that's all that's required then the world is on like World War XIII or something by now.

You ever hear of North Korea, Iran. Hamas, Talaban, etc.

Why, no, we foolish and uninformed people have never heard of any of those places or entities. We're too busy following our messiah, Barack Obama. All hail!

You think any of those organizations could hit us with a nuke and survive the exchange? Do you honestly believe they have been around this long, and will suddenly suicide?

MAD works because everyone understands the rules, nasty as they are.

For all this build-up, WW3 had better be a bit bigger than the U.S. flattening a couple minor nations.

Not to mention the fact that three of those groups don't have nukes so....

85 trillion of what used to be 10 million, of what used to be 8, which is actually 2.

What have you and I been counting, again?

I don't know... I'm still trying to figure out what on earth could we be talking about that would equal 85 trillion. I don't even think there is 85 trillion dollars on the planet...

*sigh*

We were talking about what constitutes a "World War". I wondered if it had to do with the death toll and mentioned if a million people have to die. However, if that was the case, then conflicts like the Iran-Iraq War or the Congo Civil war would fit that criteria. Only two conflicts have breached the ten million mark in terms of death toll, and that was WW1 and WW2.

Good now?

Well, sigh, I was saying that if the War on Terror counted as a World War, it wouldn't be #3, it'd be several numbers higher.

Considering Iraq and Afghanistan only equal up to a quarter of a million lives, and factor in the 50 or 60 thousand killed from terrorist attacks worldwide since 9/11, we have a long way to go for it to be even close.

Six years into this clown's presidency and you still blaming President Bush.........Does Obama ever get blamed for all tthe **** ups he has made?

I'm not blaming Bush. I am simply pointing out the cavernous hole in your pretzel logic.

Uhhhh?

You're the only one counting deaths here. I'm not.

Almost every country in the ME is boiling over...............Russia is invading Ukraine.............When has it ever been like this in the last 30 years?

I believe the primary conflict of what I would call World War III is between the radical Islamist terrorist movements, and the western world, primarily the U.S. It hasn't been an all-out war, like WWI and WWII; but more of a slow, smoldering war.

It began, as I said, when Carter betrayed and abandoned our ally, the Shah of Iran, allowing the Khomeniacs to take over that nation and get a foothold that they'd never had before, from which they could spread the poison of their war.

Russia vs. Ukraine is really just a civil war—the result of a nation having broken apart, and now wanting to put itself back together. I really don't see how it's much of the rest of the world's business.

Radical Islam is far from being just a Western Problem though. Look at places like India and China that are strife with attacks.

We are on the precifice on a new age of spelling.
