Simple Question: When do You Think Marijuana Will be Legal (if ever) in All 50 States?

I would be surprised if it was legal in all 50 states and the Fed changes it's laws to reflect that in my lifetime.

If you were to ask me when marijuana will not be heavily controlled by the government I would say more than likely never. If you were to ask me when they see the added benefit of controlling it instead of banning it, I would say not that long at all. It's not hard to sell to the government the idea of tax revenue and control.

I have no idea whatsoever.

Hopefully soon...along with the legalization of all recreational drugs.

It's no one's business but mine what I put into my body.

As soon as all illegal aliens are awarded amnesty and are given citizenship and all 50 states meet the definition of the status of being third world.

I left out not being a superpower because Obama has already accomplished that.

Maybe when Barry leaves office, he'll make it legal and pardon all the people being imprisoned for pot crimes.

I might have a half an ounce of respect for him them.

I don't know, but I can't wait for the day that I can finally have crippling paranoia in all fifty states legally.

I don't know. It seems like the effort to legalize pot across the country is gaining velocity. Similar to SSM, but there may not be enough activists in some states to see it through. There will be a tipping point for a federal law, just not sure when. I'll hazard a guess of 5-10 for all 50 states to legalize it.

I'm not so eager to see it done though. The biggest problem I see is driving under the influence. I don't think the law has caught up with a test and limits, like there is with alcohol. I know people who greet the day with a bowl. Then they get on the road. Based on my own experience, there must be some impairment to one's ability to drive safely. I never drove stoned because I knew I couldn't handle a car safely. I can't smoke pot without becoming really sick, so it won't ever be an issue for me, but I'm concerned about stoned drivers on the road with me.

It is well underway. I don't think it should take much more than a quarter century. These things take time after all.

Every state? Hard to guess. Most states in 15 years or so. Too much money in it, and state governments need the money. It will be hard for them to watch their neighbors raking it in. A bit analogous to gambling.

Better to pay the tax to government than the mafia.

I say 15-20 years.People are slowly beginning to not buy the anti-marijuana propaganda.

As cigarettes get more restricted, why do people think that marijuana should be less restricted? Do either for all I care but keep it away from me, please.

What's the difference? Seriously I fear the gooberment way more the the Mafia. And why is everyone sooo eager to let the goobermint tax everything that exist. **** them they already take enough from everyone.

Seriously, what exactly is the difference? They both will ruin your life if you don't do what they want and in both cases you don't have a choice but to do business with them when they demand it.

That was kinda my point, they are one in the same. There really isn't much difference.

Well, the one gives out nice shiny medals if you're a good hired gun for them while the other just considers you a threat and kills you. :D

I optimistically voted 5-10 years, the American people aren't buying the anti-weed rhetoric more and more. But, there's more than just the people standing between the nation and marijuana legalization nation-wide.

I would hope you feared the government more than the Mafia. After all, we pay a lot of money for them to imply and assert force, where law is broken. And people that fear will tend to pay attention to the controls maintained and enforced to prevent government misuse of power.

The Federal Government can make weed legal , but they can't make a company hire someone who does the old "piss and miss". Insurance companies and workman's comp. will battle any law such as legal weed.

The entire courtroom work group (cops, lawyers, DA, judges, politicians, DEA) will battle such laws. Doesn't matter if over half the country breaks those laws, unless those people start basing their votes on it.

Keep in mind that even in states where it's legal, the feds can go in and make arrests

I went with 5 to 10 years.

Once the current "pe-paw" generation of elected officials moves on to greener pastures, and the next generation of elected officials gains control, we'll see things move faster on this front.

While maybe not completely "legal" in all 50 states, I would certainly hope it'd be decriminalized in all 50 states by then.

That being said, as it's been stated by others, I think once some true numbers start rolling in regarding how much money can be made off selling legal marijuana, it won't take long for many states to jump on that bandwagon.

5 years might be too quick, but by ten years from now I think things will be a lot different.

I also said 5-10 and for the same reason you mentioned. I think once a "younger" generation is fully in place in DC, it will seem a very natural thing to do and will trickle down to the states.

Ya a heavy weight marijuana tax evader might get choked and die....
