Nothing really, but its how NFLers feel about themselves. Many are not going to want him around. Remember, HE made it an issue.

Just in case people think that tolerance is pervasive in the NFL now, Giants just hired David Tyree (Mr. Helmet-Catch) who was INCREDIBLY outspoken against gays. In fact, he said he'd give back his Super Bowl win if gays could not be allowed to ever marry.

The guy was probably right. The distraction will be media...not with the team or organization. But like everything else, the public will get bored with it...expect for you.

When Tony Dungy was in college, a black QB was something that would attract some controversy. Where would he be today if the University of Minnesota had decided that they didn't want the extra attention?

He's also something of a popular "local" having gone to Missouri.

Shouldn't he get the chance to prove that he's good enough? If he's not fine, but I think given what he did in college, he deserves a chance to prove it.

The courage from the Rams is because they're in a no-win situation. If he doesn't get cut, you will be screaming that they were afraid to (no matter what he actually does in the league), and if they do cut him someone will be screaming about homophobia.

not two faced at all. It is all about how their ceiling is viewed. Vick was considered a once in a lifetime athlete. You forgive all kinds of warts with those kind of players.

Sam is considered a JAG (just a guy) by talent scouts. hundreds of athletes every year with his skill-set fail to produce at the NFL level.

I kind of agree with that statement and a NFL team does not need the distraction.............He should have kept his mouth shut about being gay until he madee the team (if he mkaes the team). He could have come out then.
