Is Rick Perry a Legitimate Contender For 2016?

Is Rick Perry serious choice and would you vote for him

He is an awful candidate. His debate skills are non existent and his speech skills are poor. On top of that he has far too many skeletons in his closet to be a serious contender outside Texas. He almost makes Romney look serious and Sarah Palin look intelligent.

What skeletons are in Perry's closet?

So.....you've been rather well off under his governorship but.....

Not following...

:2razz:

My financial wellness has zero to do with Perry's Governorship. I take that back. I've made money off of his incompetence.

C'mon, you and I both know....... "You didn't build that..."

;)

I liked Perry until he told us we had no heart at the debate. That single sentence finished him forever.

He is a perfect example for what don't like about some Texans.

The only way Hillary could win a debate is if they put duct tape over everyone's mouth or substituted store manakins.
So I'm not too worried about his debate skills. She ain't no Barack Obama or Bill Clinton.

You are off-topic. this thread isn't about Hillary Clinton, it's about Rick Perry, who will never be the president of the USA because there aren't enough stupid people in the USA to put him in the White House.

Y
es, I would vote for him. Of course, considering all the actions and inactions of the Obama Administration, I would vote for anybody with an (R) next to their name
.

People on the left who think just like you put Obama in the White House.

I liked when Texas had a drought and he urged a big public prayer session to end the drought.

And, instead of rain, they got a bunch more drought.

god doesn't like Perry.

And when you're a GOPer and you lose God and the evangelicals, you can hang it up.

The atmosphere ahead of the 2008 election which pretty much guaranteed a Dem win is so much more prevalent now, and it's so much more sooner in its happening.

Essentially the 2016 election is the GOP's to lose. They just have to put a halfway reasonable candidate in the mix and run a better than average campaign.

I would normally be befuddled by your opinion, but if this administration has shown me anything it is that Dem supporters denial is only rivaled by their delusions.

Hillary is damaged goods and if she jumps into the fray she will get the Dem nom.

and oh what fun we will have when she does...

I agree. Hillary will not win. Too many white men hate her and too many married white women REALLY hate her.

Blacks and Mexicans won't come out in huge majorities for her like they did Obama.

One problem Hillary has too is that a lot of Mexican men and black men have a "Not gonna vote for some old white woman" complex. That's really gonna hurt Hillary because maybe she can get black and latina women to vote for her but no way can she get black and mexican men to vote for her. They'll stay home.

Wrong.

Tell us who's going to beat her.

What skeletons are in Perry's closet?

Well there are the obvious. He has big links to Bush Jr. He has big links to Tom De Lay and gerrymandering of districts. His record in Texas is a mirage and when on a national scale, that record will be crushed with facts and his hypocritical ways will be exposed. Most people dont know who he really is and when they get to see him, the way he acts, and the inconsistencies in his record.. well. I mean I can already see one ad running where you have the face of Rick Perry complaining that Texas is not getting enough federal help to fight wild fires, and clip over to the Texas budget where they cut funding of... fighting wildfires.

Rick Perry is a disaster waiting to happen. Not even sure he could win a primary run due to the radical Tea Party freaks. He would have to go to the extreme right, and then pivot back big time to nearer the center to even have a chance. The Independents would run away screaming, and even moderate Republicans.

Could you imagine him running on an anti-abortion, anti-gay, pro more gun platform?

And then there is of course the rumor that has been floating around for decades.. that he is in fact gay, which aint a problem for the left per say, but on the right?

Wrong.

Tell us who's going to beat her.

Jeb Bush will beat her unless he dies from obesity first, then again Hillary's a fat cow too so maybe they'll both succumb.

Think about it.

Jeb Bush will have:

-The white male vote
-The "Hispanic Mixed Race Kids + Wife Cred" which means he will have high Hispanic vote especially among Hispanic men wanting to "White it up"
-Married white women

Hillary on the other hand will have:

-Mediocre to low black male turnout
-Mediocre to low Hispanic male turnout
-Mediocre married white women turnout
-Low white male turnout
-High single female turnout

In my mind, that's a Jeb Bush win. Jeb Bush's voter blocs will turnout in full force whereas Hillary will basically only have one column of energized support from Single women. I don't see that beating several strong GOP voting blocs.

Unless the white gay faction can somehow infuse enough cash, influence and fanaticism into Hillary's campaign, she's doomed.

No, he won't.

The USA has seen all that it wants to see of the Bush family, this isn't North Korea- we don't do dynasties here.

That's nice.

So tell me then, how does Jeb Bush's strong white male, strong Hispanic, and strong married voting blocs lose to Hillary's single voting bloc of single women?

Wait until 2016 and you'll see. His biggest handicap is his name.

The USA has seen all that it wants to see of the Bush clan.

I don't think that's true. It's all about percieved amounts of negative baggage among people who will actually vote. That means the masses. The masses see Hillary as having higher negatives than Jeb Bush otherwise Jeb Bush wouldn't have more voting blocs simply put.

You forget it doesn't matter if people are tired of them. It will be those two. So the question then becomes, who has the stronger, more forceful voting blocs come election>? That would be Jeb Bush.

He could very possibly get the nomination. He would have to run a very good campaign, but I am going to assume he will learn from his mistakes in 2012 and be better prepared.

I find it unlikely I would vote for him in the general. Democrats would have to run some one really bad for me to get past ideological differences.

^ Pretty much this.

He's not my pick but if he ends up being the person opposing Hillary he's getting my vote.

That whole lesser of two evil things sucks but it's still our reality as American voters.

I'm not going to vote for Hillary under any circumstance; I also won't vote for a Republican under any circumstance. Third-party, here I come. Again.

I voted third party in 2008. Lot of good that did.
