Re: Is Rick Perry a Legitimate Contender For 2016?

Gov. Rick Perry wasn't a legitimate presidential candidate for 2012 and he's still not for 2016. The only reason his name is even in the headlines these days is because he's using this illegal alien border crossing issue as a means to get his name back in lights. He has no credibility, IMO. I mean, he wants the illegal alien crossing to stop yet the very educational benefits his state provides to illegal Mexicans is, in part, why they across the border. Not a big part, but still it acts as a magnet for illegal Mexicans to come into Texas to gain the education they see as part of living "the American Dream".

Of course, he'll say he's only following federal law, but it's a cop-out.

But you seem to think Perry is "Da Man" in Texas. You obviously don't know how Texas politics work. The most powerful political person in the Texas Legislation isn't the Gov. Texas is a little different than other states in terms of the power structure. Actually, the Lt. Governor is "Da Man". I use the the term "Da Man"...because neither is "Da Woman".

Perry is a figurehead. An ignorant, moron, imbecile figurehead at that. His handlers never let you see the long pull-string hang out of the back of his suits along with a money slot. Depending on who drops enough money down the slot...they get to program a message that comes out of his mouth when the pull-string is tugged on.

When Bush was governor...now he was a piece of work. He was the product of privilege. And when his pull-string was tugged at. Let's just say that sometime the message coming out of his mouth was coherent but normally sounded more like Rove. Sometimes it as drivel. Sometimes it was a "WTF Moment?"

No, I think he's been Gov for 14 years, this tells me somebody loves him. Glad you're so PC.

For 2016, it all depends whether Perry is interested or not. Which to date he is not. I do know this, if Perry had run as the Republican nominee in 2012, I would have given him much deeper thought than I did Romney before deciding not to vote for Romney. Perry, I might have. How all of this translates out to 2016, I haven't the faintest idea.
Yeah, you know, I'm all but positive the GOP is gonna stick another Estab candidate in there. So I'm gauging opinions and taking note on sentiment.

Glad you love him. I'm just hoping for the sake of my country...he doesn't make it off of his desolate ranch out in West Texas from the moment he leaves office.

He could be if he's better prepared this time. Last time seemed kind of seat of his pants. Like Fred Thompson in '08. Could've been a contender, but didn't seriously prepare for it.

No, I don't think he's a serious candidate and no, I would never vote for him...

...but PLEASE let him run! Oh, yes, I hope that he and Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz are all up there during the GOP presidential debates! Oh, and Michelle Bachmann, too!

He failed badly the first time because of his own flaws and defects. Why would a rerun be any different?

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

Re: Is Rick Perry a Legitimate Contender For 2016?

He is indeed a legitimate contender. He's a governor of a large state. He has governing experience and has dealt with, is dealing with a lot of the issues the federal government is going to be dealing with during the next presidential term.

Would I vote for him? Perhaps. Depends upon what he has to say, how he manages his campaign and who he is running against.
