I would say probably not. I look like a white middle class person. When the car was robbed - the criminal never even saw me. When the hotel was robbed - I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and he was there for the money - not my money but the hotels money.

but really, I can pick any big city and say "it's the worst"... primarily because I think big cities are the worst.

Watching my beloved Las Vegas turn into a big city was painful....it was a much much better place when it was a small city.
now, like every other big city.. it's impersonal, it's crime riddled, it's ugly, it has nasty ass ghettoes, barrios, and methvilles.

a small city run by the mob was simply a better place than a big city run by corporations, politicians, and all the people who don't give two ****s about anything but themselves.

**** big cities... they're all ****holes, imo
My experience has been that big cities have a great deal to offer and can be great places with amazing things to see. that would include places like Vegas, Chicago, New York. Memphis and others that I have visited and had wonderful times in.

In April we went to New York City for a long weekend and it was tremendous. We stayed right near Broadway and the theater district. At at some great restaurants including Japanese Iron Chef Morimoto's place which was heaven- saw Denzel Washington live in RAISIN IN THE SUN and saw KINKY BOOTS the next day. We went to the 911 site and spent Sunday morning at the big art museum and saw things you cannot see even at the Louvre or Vatican. We walked a great deal. On the three three mornings I was there I woke up at 6 AM ran six to seven miles in Central Park and back to the hotel.

Went to Chicago two weeks ago - we took our 12 year old grandson and stayed right where Michigan Ave intersects the river downtown across from the new Trump Tower. Had a great time and took one of those architectural boat tours, went to the Field Museum, Navy Pier, walked and shopped the Miracle Mile and other things. I also ran every morning from the hotel to the lake and down to the Field and back. This may have been my 25th trip to Chicago over the years and we like to go once a year or so.

no, Detroit does not receive less federal money than Colombia..Detroit receives quite a bit more.... over a billion and a half more.
whomever put out that meme decided not to count 1.9 billion in federal spending going directly to the city and/or it's residents
for instance, medicaid dollars sent to Detroit residents, alone, is about twice as much as the federal dollars we sent to Colombia. ( 600+ million versus 320+ million)

yes, there are cool places to see .. without a doubt.

take Vegas.. some of my favorite places to visit are in Vegas ( I like the Orleans and the Wynn.. i'm a poker lover)... but it's all a facade.
go behind the casino and it's disgusting and smelly... and the nasty ass neighborhoods that surround the casinos for miles and miles and miles.

probably my biggest problem with big cities arises from my conservationist ways.. I like nature.. I like preserving nature.
I don't mind using nature , as long as we don't ruin it.
the growth of Vegas, for an example, ruined the entire valley... what was once a beautiful and vibrant desert, is now just .. gone.
i'd call it a "concrete jungle', but jungles are actually beautiful... it's just a concrete wasteland.... with stucco and red tile roofs as far as the eye can see..and lots of lights.

of course this is all personal preference.. some people love big cities.... i'm of the opinion that big cities are the worst than humanity can offer.

Re: Which City is America's Worst

I don't have enough experience with any of these cities to comment and since I'm Canadian it's probably not a good idea to participate in the poll, so I won't.

I did want to say, however, that I went to Boston once for 4 days and although it was nice, had some good qualities, and the people were very nice, the whole time we were there it smelled like a giant fart. I don't know why - none of the locals seemed to notice and I got tired of the questioning looks I got if I asked - but it was very irritating and the reason I never have returned and never would go back.
