California has implemented, or is implementing, a "public retirement" program for people who do not have 401K's thru their work - it is simply a scheme to steal money from the lowest classes of society for the purpose of keeping the public worker pension system from collapsing - but, of course, the masses are completely ignorant of the fact that they are being ripped off.

That system will go national eventually - and when that can't save all the sinking ships, they will begin calling for FedGov bailouts; which means that even if you live in a responsible state - the parasites will eventually get into your wallet.

The one thing all of these places have in common is that they are hardcore democratic strongholds. Disgusting thieves who deserve their comeuppance.
The only thing all of these items have in common is that they are all impressions in your head.

I am afraid that knowing more about USA than most Americans is a pretty low bar.

If you travelled much in Europe, Canada, Japan (and I presume China and Australia, where I have no direct experience), almost each country can boast superior infrastructure to that of the US and you would find almost all of them devoid of the abject poverty and violent crime that is so prevalent in the US (and I have been to every major city in this country and 45 states).

Sorry, but America no longer qualifies as a 1st world country; we have major issues. Its time for Americans to look in the mirror and see the fat, balding middle aged country that we have actually become rather than continue in this fantasy that we are still the high school stud that we once were.

If you honestly think America is not a first world country than I don't know what to tell you.
I have also been to quite a few areas in Europe as well as Canada Japan and South Korea and while yes they have some very nice places they also have some very crappy ones just like in the US. I have seen some horrible infrastructure in parts of Canada and Europe. Parts of South Korea and Japan look more third worldish than anywhere I have ever been in this country. And than to try and use China as an example. Have you never even seen a picture of rural China.

Also just look at the sheer size of this country vs many country's in Europe and else where. If this country had only as many miles of road to maintain as pretty much all those countries we could repave our roads yearly. The same goes for things like power grids and internet.
Thinking that this country is not first world is either blind hatred of this country or extreme ignorance.
President Franklin Roosevelt eulogized a fallen American Soldier by saying, “He stands in the unbroken line of patriots who have dared to die [that] freedom might live, and grow, and increase its blessings. Freedom lives, and through it he lives--in a way that humbles the undertakings of most men."

Hahaha you obviously haven't traveled much.

I'm pretty sure that we are still considered a 1st world country, but we are certainly not number 1.
