When I was younger I moved to a city I couldn't stand. I thought the place horrible but sometimes life throws you a curve. Despite the fact I thought it was the most horrible place I'd ever live, a lot of people I'd met loved it and couldn't figure out why I couldn't see what they saw. Then it dawned on me, I was struggling financially after the move.

It's amazing the impact financial stress and difficulty can have on our lives. Don't they say that by far the number one thing married couples fight over is money?

Being middle class in this country means constantly being stressed out over your finances. Some people make much better decisions than others and some are better equipped to deal with the stress but I think most people, regardless of their political leanings, would agree that the middle class is getting screwed a million and one different ways.

That's OK. I'll get my own. I'd rather do that, than have you tell me it's Obama's fault that the onions are so expensive.

Los Angles is on the way to bankruptcy; so is San Francisco. 6 California cities have already gone bankrupt, the largest being Santa Barbara, I think.

Birmingham, AL went bankrupt; Detroit of course.

California, Illinois, New Jersey, and New York are all states that are heading toward ruin.

California has implemented, or is implementing, a "public retirement" program for people who do not have 401K's thru their work - it is simply a scheme to steal money from the lowest classes of society for the purpose of keeping the public worker pension system from collapsing - but, of course, the masses are completely ignorant of the fact that they are being ripped off.

That system will go national eventually - and when that can't save all the sinking ships, they will begin calling for FedGov bailouts; which means that even if you live in a responsible state - the parasites will eventually get into your wallet.

The one thing all of these places have in common is that they are hardcore democratic strongholds. Disgusting thieves who deserve their comeuppance.

Most of the cities on the list have their bad neighborhoods but are worth visiting overall.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to ever step foot in Camden.

    You're right.

Detroit has pretty much been locked down by the liberal Democrats for the last 40 years and look how it turned out. Now they want the rest of us to save their bacon. I keep hearing oh but what about the people with pensions. Fu%$ em! Not my problem!

The big population and job losses in Detroit began in the decade of the 50's under two Republican mayors Alfred Cobo and Louis Mariani. The city lost 300,000 people during that decade and that is when the big slide began. Yes, those who came after were Democrats. So please, lets get that straight.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

The liberals own what's happened in Detroit.

    It's a fact.
