Being middle class in this country means constantly being stressed out over your finances. Some people make much better decisions than others and some are better equipped to deal with the stress but I think most people, regardless of their political leanings, would agree that the middle class is getting screwed a million and one different ways.
Los Angles is on the way to bankruptcy; so is San Francisco. 6 California cities have already gone bankrupt, the largest being Santa Barbara, I think.
Birmingham, AL went bankrupt; Detroit of course.
California, Illinois, New Jersey, and New York are all states that are heading toward ruin.
California has implemented, or is implementing, a "public retirement" program for people who do not have 401K's thru their work - it is simply a scheme to steal money from the lowest classes of society for the purpose of keeping the public worker pension system from collapsing - but, of course, the masses are completely ignorant of the fact that they are being ripped off.
That system will go national eventually - and when that can't save all the sinking ships, they will begin calling for FedGov bailouts; which means that even if you live in a responsible state - the parasites will eventually get into your wallet.
The one thing all of these places have in common is that they are hardcore democratic strongholds. Disgusting thieves who deserve their comeuppance.
