Is this clip racist, funny, both or neither?

Re: Is this Racist?

:agree: Calling half the people in this country his "enemies," - and he was referring to Republicans - because they didn't agree with him, sure set a fine example for a POTUS who is supposed to represent all the people, as he swore when he took the Oath of office. The Oath also states that he will, to the best of his ability, "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

He seems to have a bit of a problem with both parts of the Oath, unfortunately.

Greetings, tres borachos. :2wave:

He is kind of reminiscent of Nixon sometimes.

Re: Is this Racist?

First time a senate leader vowed it as the single most important objective in the first year.
But of course you know that. That coy, sarcastic, selective memory is making you look silly again.

And Harry Reid is the first majority leader who spent time on the floor complaining about people who write Op-Eds for the WSJ, calling private citizens who donate money to the opposing party "anti-American", and screaming about football team names (while wagging his finger at the owner of said team). Interesting how different these leaders can be.

Re: Is this Racist?

So the Democrats all supported Bush 43. And the Republicans all supported Clinton. And the Democrats all supported Bush 41. And the Democrats all supported Reagan.

Um, yeah.

Kindly stop with the personal insults. "Games", "childish", etc. How about sticking to the topic/content of my posts and leaving the little digs aside?
How about debating as an adult?
I have already said that the obstruction has been unprecedented and I never said that no president ever had opposition. You put those words in my mouth as a child would do.
This is exactly the kind of childish debate tactic I am talking about.
If you wish to defend their unprecedented obstruction ... fine ...do so...
Denying what we all already know, or making the case that it is not unprecedented, gains you no traction it only makes you appear ... well, yeah ...childish.

If I was not debating as an adult, I'd call people names like a kid. I haven't called you or anyone else in this thread a name. I can't say the same thing for everyone...including you.

This thread is about a float in a parade being racist, not about obstruction. I'm going back to topic. This side discussion is boring and off topic.

Re: Is this Racist?

No, this is the very first time in history that one party didn't want the other party's candidate to win the Presidential election, Chris. Pay attention.
There's that childish sarcasm again.
Show me where the opposition leader in either chamber ever said this or anything like it;

“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president,” -Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell
The single most important thing we want to achieve... said during the biggest recession since the great depression.

You posted a graph that said "projected" as in the future.

What is reality?

Is your name Chris...or are you just going to follow me around in this thread and keep it off topic?

Mitch McConnell isn't the topic, unless he was the one who put that float in that parade.

Re: Is this Racist?

Demographics and voting record, eh?

As for the latter, I lived by it. They do cling to their bibles, they love guns, and many are racist to the core.

I saw it for myself. Whether you believe me or not, makes no difference.

Gotcha. Opinion. Certainly establishes the Presidents belief about Pennsylvanians and Mid-Westerners.

Are you under the impression that it is important that it was said out loud? Do you think this is something new for the opposition to think?

The interviewer displayed profound stupidity and un-professionalism.
Jackson astounded as he was, had some fun at the interviewers expense...and rightly so.
The term " they all look alike" comes immediately to everyone's mind when viewing this vid.
Was the interviewer being racist?
Stupid ... most definitely ...racist ? probably not.

Given the nature and depth of the problems the nation faced at that time...Yes, I honestly believe that was something that took on a new level for a leader of the opposition to think... said out-loud it was nothing short of astonishing.

I got those two actors confused for years, though I knew the difference and had watched much of their roles. It wasn't out of racism or even similar physical traits, it was some kind of mental error. And I've seen Fishburne interviewed, saying it's an ongoing joke between them it happens so often. I don't get them mixed up anymore or with other actors, like Clarence Williams III or Denzel Washington.

I think the clip is funny as hell but not overtly racist.

Re: Is this Racist?

Greetings to you as well...
So you take issue with a single slipped word that was apologized for?
How tolerant of you.

Perhaps you didn't see the other video where he said Repubs should sit in the back of the bus? That's more than one word, Buck, but yes, I'm very tolerant about most gaffes, having made my share. But honestly, how would you have felt if Bush had said that Democrats were the enemy? Wouldn't you have been a bit insulted?

Re: Is this Racist?

When you make childish snide comments to another, about something I posted?
Yes expect to be followed.
I didn't take this thread off topic but I didn't let silly comments that did, go unanswered either.

Sad that American racism in it's many forms is so common place that it makes you yawn ...don't you agree?

Bush said many, many things that were many times more insulting than that.
Don't get me started on the gaffes he dropped on us in eight years.

The last tick on that graph was projected. The point before it demonstrated my contention that obstruction against this President is unprecedented.
Want more historical graphs to demonstrate my point?
There is no shortage of them.
That is the reality.

Interesting. My post to Chris had nothing to do with you. You're not the only one posting in this thread.

Kindly stop now, please. I would like to post about the float and not you or other posters.

Ohhhh please, please let me hear all these nasty things Bush said about Dems???? I'll hold my breath.

Re: Is this Racist?

Forgive me for being lazy, and maybe this was already addressed in one of the previous 296 posts.

Have outhouses become a symbol for black people and/or the black population now? That's what would make this float racist. Caricature depictions like watermelon, or Buckwheat, yes, I get that. When did a portapotty become a racist symbol?

Re: Is this Racist?

Moderator's Warning:
I would highly suggest that the personal comments stop right now and that everyone get back on topic. This is your one and ONLY warning.
