The people filming the incident imply the individual should have been arrested and that she had done something which warranted the police action. It may very well have been excessive or abusive. But until you know, you are spewing.
And you can hear the people filming the incident were laughing. I wonder why ? Maybe they knew she was 5150 ?

That's why women shouldn't serve in combat.

If that's what you believe constitutes 'graphic violence', I'd sincerely hate for you stray from your cosy, white picket enclaves into those scary darey real world environs (Yes children, your white collar parents lied; they do exist). Some places, that couldn't even qualify as a lovers' tiff. lulz

Better stay glued to Hill Street, peeps. Glass of wine. Flower beds. Frat house nostalgia. Objet d'art and decking.

Hands across (middle-class) America. Can I get a Hellz Yeah!?

    Ummm... no. Just no.

    That's why I shouldn't serve in combat. I'm a grown-up and I own my weaknesses.

To project that on to *all* women is ridiculous.

DOnt know if she was or wasnt. All we know for sure is that there was SOME sort of incident requiring police presence on a freeway.

I dont know the details on this incident but by way of friendly information...if a police officers orders you to stop...you stop (added urgency if you are on foot on a freeway). If a police officer attempts to apprehend you, dont fight back and dont resist.

Ive found in my 52 years that it is actually REALLY easy to NOT be subjected to police violence.

I was finishing a crisis call a few years back wehn an incident broke out in the waiting room of the ER we ended up at. A young servicemember had threatened to shoot everyone in the waiting room. I went out, controlled the situation, got the guy settled down, got him seated, and got him to agree to accompany me back for an assessment and lab work. When he put his hands up, a dozen or more officers pounced on the guy. He resisted...they subdued him. I was pissed at the officers and I felt their response was excessive. I had the situation under control and there was no way he would trust me after that. But...he HAD gone into a full ER waiting room and threatened to shoot everyone in the waiting room. We didnt know if he had a gun or not. They werent taking chances.

I dont know what happened on that freeway that put the two in that situation. I suspect there is more to it than "random cop assaulted random homeless woman". It may very well have been excessive. We just dont know.

It is not uncommon for law enforcement officials to attempt to subdue individuals by striking them. She was clearly resisting him and they were on a freeway.

Listen to the audio. There was more to what was going on than a cop deciding to jump out of his car and beat up a homeless woman. I suspect you have no capacity to hear or see what you have already made up your mind to hear and see.

I can see clearly in the video that even after the woman stops resisting as she is on the ground and is simply guarding her face that the cop continues to beat on her. Right at the 28 second mark - the women is on her side cowering and the cop continues to punch her in the head. Sorry I'm not buying your bull**** excuses for police brutality.

    We will probably never know.

However, IMHO the video clearly shows the immediate threat (assuming there was one), whatever it may have been, was no longer an *immediate* threat to anybody.

    The officer went overboard.

No...you cant 'see' that because until the other individual arrives she never stops resisting.

No one is making any excuses or even stating the officer was justified...merely stating there is possibly more to the story than your narrow minded bias will allow you to see.
