Re: Who has been our greatest President?

Nixion may have a few accomplishments, but watergate is what most people remember him for

Watergate? Please. Nixon was a boy scout compared to the things that were done by Wilson, Andrew Johnson, Obama, W, Buchanan and a few others.

Re: Who has been our greatest President?

To me Wilson was by far the worst. He may be eclipsed by Obama but that remains to be seen.

Re: Who has been our greatest President?

Barack Obama
I am voting for this man as I prefer being different and NOT following the crowd.
This man does have what no other have .. a peace prize.
And no other has had as many obstacles, and has had to face so much conservative hatred .. maybe even some liberal ... Actually, I think T Roosevelt was the greatest..I think ..

Re: Who has been our greatest President?

How can Wilson be considered worse than nixion?

Let's see what did Nixon do that was so bad...oh yeah watergate, he tried to cover up a break-in and some wiretapping of which he was not actually invovled in. Big friggin deal. How did that hurt the nation in the long run?

On the other hand we have Mr. Wilson was party to the federal reserve being created, passed the sedition act, he was a racist, opposed women's suffrage, hated the constitution, did everything in his power to stifle dissent.

The biggest one probably was the fact that he was a pedophile. Mainstream historians have sought to bury this knowledge because it is quite frankly embarrassing to this nation but with a little digging and reading of some honest, objective historians from decades past one can learn about Wilson's penchant for dalliances with young boys.

Wilson was not just a bad president. He was a bad person in every possible sense of the word bad. May he burn in hell.

You're obviously an idiot.

Carter, Teddy Roosevelt and that bastard Woodrow Wilson also won the Nobel Peace Prize.

But who has been our greatest President--the thread?

Not bash FDR every time you see his letters .
"Bash" , insult, abase, - the only thing that mindless conservatives know ..
But solutions , even ideas ?
never - not allowed due to hatred.
I am probably no better ..

If anyone is mindless it's you, with statements like Obama is the only president to have received a peace prize.

You self identify as a progressive so it's a given that you're damaged goods emotionally, cognitively and spiritually.

Re: Who has been our greatest President?

Teddy Roosevelt. He was an amazing president, and the toughest son of a bitch to ever walk the face of the Earth.

Who is this Chuck motherf-ing Norris you speak of? Is he related to Chuck Norris?

Forgive me, I assumed most people were familiar with his middle name.

Yes they are one and the same.

Re: Who has been our greatest President?

William Henry Harrison - no question, no contest.

 Because he was only in office for a month?

The only good politician is one with failing health.

William Henry Harrison

IMO, all POTUS's just make things worse...so they all probably sucked.

And since Harrison was only in office for 31 days, he did the least amount of damage...so he sucked the least.

I like your thinking.;)

Think of it as a naturalistic way of imposing term limits.

Wow. Keep it classy, guys.

Nope. Still not as badass as Roosevelt. I will concede that Norris is not simply pretending to be a badass as soon as a beloved children's toy is invented to comemorate him showing an act of mercy, and he makes a 90-minute speech right after being shot in the chest.

Re: Who has been our greatest President?

I think perspective of the individual really has to come into play on this one. But putting aside all social, financial, and domestic issues, I would say Harry S. Truman for the sole reason the he is the only president who has had to make the decision to use nuclear weapons. I cannot even begin to imagine how a decision like that would weigh upon you. Even a president who makes the decision to go to war is sending soldiers to fight other soldiers who have been trained to have a fighting chance. Dropping a nuclear bomb on a city causes the ultimate collateral damage - 100% collateral damage. Making the decision and living with it afterward has to be the heaviest burden any human being ever has to bear.

He had a lot stacked against him. He had bad asthma as a child, his first wife and mother died on the same day, his son Quinton was shot down and killed in WWI, he fought on the front lines of the Spanish-American war, he lived life as a cowboy for a while.

I agree he was a great president. Fierce independence alienated him from his own party, causing him to lose his attempt to become the Republican nomination for the presidency in 1912.

Let's hear it for the Bull Moose Party!

The original "progressive party." And BTW, TR is my favorite president.

I voted GW because if not for him the US could have possibly slipped into another oligarchy.

(Not that it isn't that today.)

Not only that, but it's a two-family oligarchy! Why on Earth can't we have a third last name to randomly select our dictator from? Picking between Bush and Clinton just get a little old after a while, you know?
