No woman is forced to have a baby.
"Legitimate rape."
No woman is forced to have a baby.
Do you agree with the President's recent statements that the US should join the rest of the industrialized world and have provided paid maternity leave? The President said that Congress should work on legislation requiring employers to have paid maternity leave? Do you believe this should be law or not?

Not just no, but HELL NO!
If a couple cannot afford to have a child, why are they doing so?
'MURICA! Also, Papau New Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Swaziland!
Obama is a well-known liberal. Liberals hate businesses. Therefore, it's not surprising that Obama would propose some asshat idea that will only result in:
1. Hurting businesses.
2. Hurting employees.
Furthermore, liberals should really dump this idea of theirs that "a law from the feds" can fix anything.
(God...I can't wait till the Democrats get their asses kicked in 2014 and 2016.)
Some countries shoot people crossing their borders....would you like us to change that policy also?
Other countries, you take a test in 8th grade, and then they TELL you where you go next....college, or technical/trade school....shall we adopt this policy also?
There are a lot of countries that do things differently than us.....i wouldnt say theirs is the best way........would you?

Obviously yes. And anyone who believes in reducing the number of abortions but opposes guaranteeing paid leave is a hypocrite. If the U.S. wasn't such an awful place to raise a mother, much less people in lower incomes would be motivated to have an abortion.
Far from the actual definition of liberalism: Economic liberalism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
1.)If Obama is a liberal, he is one terrible liberal
2.)This would hurt employees?
3.)It wouldnt hurt business an the economy. If the worker who is on leave still has income coming in they have money to spend. Hell lots of businesses offer some sort of maternity leave.
Abortion? What does this have to do with abortion?
shrug...
Who cares about your link about "Economic liberalism"? I'm saying that Obama is a liberal/progressive/Democrat...pick your label...they are all one and the same.

If it was not so economically unfeasible to have a child in this country, less people would be motivated to have abortions.
Regarding Obama, I don't think someone who continued the War in Afghanistan, brought more customers to the healthcare industry, and supports surveillance of innocent citizens hardly deserves the label "progressive."
i'm not one to favor federally mandated discrimination.. no.
You're a white male you can't be discriminated against.

I stand to be corrected, but Canada is a member of the industrialized world and we don't have mandatory paid maternity leave, paid for by companies. We do have mandatory "parental" leave - mother or father can take it - 17 weeks I believe, but that might have increased by now - and employees who have sick leave or vacation benefits are entitled to use them and they are also entitled to collect unemployment insurance for time they take off - mother or father - if they don't have sick time/vacation time. In all cases, the employees job is to be protected and they are entitled to return to it or a similar or better position when they return.
There are, however, lots of companies who provide better than mandated paternity benefits, which is their right and good on them. Mandating businesses to fully pay employees who are off on maternity leave would, in my opinion, make it harder for women of child bearing age to make it into the upper levels of management, even more so than they may experience without it.
No. But I wish the monster would join the rest of the world and leave my country alone. He has damaged this country, possibly beyond repair. I wish only the worst for him.Do you agree with the President's recent statements that the US should join the rest of the industrialized world and have provided paid maternity leave?
I knew that image was bull****. Our Family Leave Act allows for 12 weeks.

Oh...are you saying that a big reason people get abortions is because they can't afford to have a baby? And that the solution is to place that cost on the backs of businesses?
Yep...typical liberal ignorance.
The overriding hallmark of a liberal is the belief that government should be all-powerful...that government can...and should...provide a solution to every individual's problems. So, yes...Obama is a liberal.
Is there a link to that, hard to believe many of those countries, some that don't even have a minimum wage or workplace safety standards require paid maternity leave.

Yes. That is well known and relatively accepted that people get abortions because they can't afford to have a baby. As proven by the map posted earlier, businesses still exist and do just fine in nations with paid leave.
Ha. Not a liberal. Not even close.
"Liberalism is a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality. Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understandings of these principles, but they generally support ideas such as free and fair elections, civil rights, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, free trade, and private property."

Nothing about "big government." Let's please use the actual definitions of ideologies, as opposed to the perverted American definition. Like other liberals, Obama embraces economic deregulation and privatization. Yes, he fits into the definition of liberal, but that in no way means he believes in "big government," which is an utterly meaningless phrase. The size and role of government is in no way relevant to political discussion.
