Should the US and Iran Cooperate With Each other Over Iran?

With the horrible situation going on in Iraq, the US and Iran might have a common interest in working with each other. Iran is worried bout the Sunni extremists gaining power and influence in Iran, and the US is worried about Islamic extremists in general gaining a stronghold to spread their brand of Sharia extremism. In your opinion do you think Iran and the US should cooperate?

Absolutely not. Even the suggestion of doing so underscores the completely inept approach the President has had toward global politics and foreign affairs. Why not ask Hamas to assist?

Iran is getting the bomb, the President and his bunch of foreign affairs lightweights have been rattling cages, and beating drums over Iran, and now they want to partner up?

Geeze, let's get the local members of the Future Leaders Club at a High School into the frey. No doubt they could come up with better ideas than the man in the White House.

Can a member of the Axis of Evil cooperate with the Great Satan to achieve a common goal and defeat an entity both consider to be a threat?

Could be. Stranger things have happened, but the results are likely to be unpredictable and perhaps worse than the current situation. Will Iran take over Iraq, or parts of it? What about Iran's nuke program, will we simply look the other way while that develops, or will we attack our "ally" in the fight against the ISIS? Is there enough political savvy, enough real intelligence in Washington for such an alliance to produce a positive result? Stay tuned... I have my doubts.

I would liken this to WWII and our alliance with the USSR. At the time it was a necessary evil, but look what happened after the war. I would see some of the same problems today with a U.S. alliance with Iran.
Politics I supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

Ask McCain and Graham--as the lamestream media does--they're on opposite sides of this debate--
Graham is outnumbered by the McCains/Boehners/Cheneys of the GOP tacking to play politics with Israel .

I think you meant that the U.S. and Iran should cooperate with Iraq on the title. :P But I would be opposed to this partnership. If I held a different viewpoint, perhaps if I was an advocate of imperialism or military interventionism, I would support whatever alliance is necessary. But my largest issue is with the bolded section of your post. This may be one of our government's current worries, but it certainly shouldn't be. We should be opposed to all extremist and anti-democratic regimes, but we should pursue diplomatic instead of military solutions; in addition, I dislike the U.S. government's continuous policy of upholding dictatorships and regimes that act in our interests, while pretending to be a voice for democracy abroad. I also don't think Sharia extremism is an extreme enough threat to merit an alliance with an anti-democratic government.
