Can a Libertarian be Pro Life?

Can a libertarian be pro life?

The labels represent your view on policy, thus there is no such thing as "personally pro life". If you support a choice then you are pro choice regardless of what choice you would make for yourself.

No, I am not pro-choice when it comes to my own body. If I were pregnant, I would not have an abortion. It's not something I could do in good conscience.

The lable is about policy, not your body. If you support the choice existing for each woman to decide for herself, then you are pro choice.

I can wear whatever label I choose to wear, and my description is exactly what I am with regard to the subject of abortion, whether or not you agree that it is accurate.

Neither could I.

I also would never get my eyelids pierced, but that doesn't mean I would be opposed to someone else doing it if it suits her.

That's what makes up Libertarians.

Can someone who considers him/herself very conservative be for the right to abort a pregnancy? Because I am and I do.

That's true, nothing stops you from misrepresenting yourself. Just know that most of us see through the estrogen.

Then you're pro choice on the topic of eyelid piercings. Nothing wrong with that. Im pro choice on tattoos while I don't want one for myself; that means im pro choice, not pro clear skin.

At this stage of life, you may very well have a higher estrogen level than I. This has nothing to do with estrogen, and everything to do with views on abortion. Just because you can't identify, doesn't make it invalid.

You just answered your own question.

I know. No one actually is locked in to believing in ANYTHING. In other words, what a dumbass poll this is.

So basically your a Democrat but don't like the regulations that the Dems do because they do more in your eyes.
Democrats are more open to weed, want a smaller military, don't want foreign wars.

I am all for less regulation, but we also have to balance it with the needs of society. Not all regulation is bad, but not all freely regulated things are good either.
See the needs of society are secondary, the rights and liberty of the individual is what rules. And yes some Democrats may share my views though more traditional Democrats, noting urks me more than more regulations to remove power of the people or the individual states. Overall, the fed needs to be 1/2 the size it is now if not smaller, meaning half if not more of the fed govs bloated bureaucratic organizations need to go bye bye. I seriously doubt many Democrats would still be smiling at that.

Hard to say... an abortion is a violation of the non-aggression principle but so is using force to stop people from doing so (prohibition.)

IMO the only logically consistent point of view a libertarian can have is being anti-abortion but pro-choice.

Libertarianism is not anarchism. Libertarians believe in using force to stop force.

Agreed, what in what I wrote makes you say this to me as if I didn't already know this?

Libertarians believe in using force to stop force.

Not if said act of force is a legal right. IMO the only justified use of force is in self-defense/retaliation which one could argue, say in the case of the survival of the mother, is an act of self-defense.

A fetus has no legal rights, a pregnant woman does.

I think a libertarian could be either or on the subject of abortion. In fact I would think a libertarian regardless of their own personal beliefs would rally behind the people having more control over what the majority in their local/state governments desire and support through the ballot box.

This a poll about Pro Life(anti-Abortion) and Libertarianism, not a thread about murder which is a criminal behavior...

Some people consider it murder.

Just like every other ideology, for 99% of the people it comes down to whether a fetus should have rights.

I say no. A Libertarian believes in individual choice, even if it is a choice they don't agree with.

they shouldnt be pro life but we should ask who is the true libertarian

It doesn't, he's grasping for straws.

How so? It was a simple point. True Liberty means people make choices based on what they believe not what the government tells you or what morals some want to force. If Libertarians think a pro life view is okay then how about socialized medicine? Think of all that can save? How about everyone gets a house? Or a food allotment?

Just saying...

Liberal are for whatever is politically convenient for them. You're for Obamacare, that's not a choice.
