"Now IRS claims Lois Lerner emails lost to computer crash"

I'm well aware of the existing thread concerning this ever escalating IRS issue_

I simply want to know how many Obama Administration supporters believe and stand by Lois Lerner_

My biggest worry is that many on the left might be too embarrassed to make public their true opinion_

And I already know how the opposition feels about Lerner's amazing claim so I didn't bother including them_

Crap, I wasn't supposed to vote in the poll. Just ignore my vote. Thanks. :D

That is very professional. Do it, make it count and then excuse yourself. ;)

No way they lost them. I would imagine the government to hold onto their emails forever like they do ours.

I don't believe it at all, but I rarely if ever believe what a politician tells me whichever party they are.

I didn't believe it when the same thing happened during the Bush administration either.

White House: Millions of e-mails may be missing - CNN.com

So did you include this George W Bush email incident to hopefully minimize the IRS scandal?

I asked because I see people on the left do this quite often___In fact it's rather routine_

Would I be correct in assuming that you don't view this IRS/Lerner scandal as being very scandalous?

What about you?
No I never align with corrupt politicians, especially corrupt Presidential Administrations; nor do I make excuses for them_

I have no political loyalties___Zero/Zip/Nota!

Nope.

The Idea that they cant recover the mails because of a "crash" sounds redicilous.

Actually, part of the Bush email thing had to do with the investigation about Valerie Plame. I equate the two.

I'm simply pointing out that it happens in administrations regardless of political affiliation. I don't expect anything more from them.

Accidentally voted in poll.

Perhaps the NSA has a "backup" for them.

There is absolutely no way. Such an excuse is pretty much the modern day equivalent of "the dog ate my homework".

Did you happen to notice that both of your posts are much more about George W than they are about Lois Lerner_

This is very telling of your desire to deflect attention away from the Obama Administration's IRS assault on democracy_

Considering that George is long gone; would you like to redeem yourself by posting a comment that actually pertains to the OP?

Attention Everyone: George W Bush is old news and no matter how low he actually sank; his Administration never came close to the depths of Barack Hussein Obama's, so how about we lay Boy-George to rest__RIP!

(and please let's try to stay focused on Lois Lerner)

As an IT professional, I can tell you its possible but only if she was using a personal email account for official government correspondence. Even then, the only way for it to happen would be if that email account was setup as a pop account on her local computer. In such a scenario because the email client pulls down any new emails locally and automatically deletes them from the server. Local hard drive fails (happens all the time), and the emails are then lost.

If that was the case, then I think that is pretty damning anyway because it points to extremely loose IT security policies. Most organizations don't allow you to use personal email accounts for official business for that very reason. Why should the federal government be any different?

Another way for it to happen is if she routinely took email correspondence and sorted it into local PST files or the local office database (in the event she used a Mac). In such an a case, by moving it to local folders in a pst file, she would be deleting them from the server. If her hard drive then failed, they would be lost. This happens a lot in organizations. However, it's easily prevented by having an email archiving system in place. I would think the IRS would have such a system in place.

Point in all this being is that its certainly possible, but I don't think its all that likely and if it did happen it points to a very incompetent IT group over at the IRS.

Can I stand by her constitutional right to not say anything under oath that may be used against her ...but have no idea whether she is guilty or not of any wrong doing???

Of course you may_

The 5th Amendment clearly states that a person can't be forced to say anything that might incriminate their self!

Which in and of itself is pretty much an admission of guilt in some form or other_

...but have no idea whether she is guilty or not of any wrong doing???
Surely you jest?! :wassat1: I can't imagine how her guilt could be any more obvious_

Did you notice that the second one was a reply to your first attempt to accuse me of deflecting? Or do you just knee-jerk when you see the word "Bush?" Seems like you're the one trying to deflect now.

When it comes to "lost" e-mails to try to derail an investigation, I'd call the two about equal. As I said, I didn't believe it then, and I don't believe it now. It's a shame that you can't see that (but not a surprise).

It has nothing to with IT. They didn't lose jack ****. They just don't want the e-mails seen. Par for the course, it seems.

Especially when potential evidence is destroyed.

I agree, I just was pointing out that it is plausible.

Which isn't at all what I said, but if it helps you sleep better at night go for it.

Yes it was; because there's actually no other reason to inject George W into the discussion_

I know this because you people do it all the time! :giggle1:

Personally I need to see what was so damaging in the 24,000 emails first and foremost before I worry about another bunch of emails. And let's face it, there isn't much to this scandal other then RW blathering with a victim complex.

Boo Hoo, I said something about your hero.:2bigcry:

Ignore the past, when it's inconvenient. We have to pretend that Obama invented everything bad that ever happened.

Not everything, but certainly enough in the past 5 years.
