It would seem to some it is. Otherwise why would there be such a effort to call some one who pretty obviously is not a sniper a sniper.

    sniper (ˈsnaɪpə )

    Definitions
    noun

a rifleman who fires from a concealed place, esp a military marksman who fires from cover usually at long ranges at individual enemy soldiers
    sniper - definition

    NOUN [COUNTABLE] /ˈsnaɪpər/
someone who shoots at people from a hidden place
    sniper
    noun [C] (SHOOT) /ˈsnaɪ.pər/ /-pɚ/
› someone who shoots at people from a place where they cannot be seen
By any, but by the most specific definitions of the word, ...this man was, most definitely, a sniper.

By those definitions pretty much everyone in the military is a sniper. Every single infantryman in the US military is taught to use cover and concealment.
Those are pretty much worthless definitions.

What a moron. Had law enforcement seen him, the whole Bundy thing could have ended very differently...

Maggie, do you remember what highway that was that Bundy's armed posse blocked? Was it some back-of-the-woods rural highway?

No. It was Interstate 15, a major transportation corridor between Southern California and much of the Western United States. That alone should have been enough to land their sorry asses in prison, not including their armed intimidation of federal officials, not including establishing their own authority over the state of Nevada and the United States, not to mention Bundy's freeloading shenanigans that started this whole mess.

I sincerely hope that they lock Bundy and his posse up and throw away the key. These people posed clear and present dangers to the law and order of the State of Nevada and the United States of America. To let them go with anything less than severe punishment is to appease other potential extremists. The United States government needs to send a clear message that this kind of terrorism--yes, terrorism--will not be tolerated.
