Scoring does not mean more interesting games. Look at basketball: lots of scoring, and less exciting than watching your toenails grow. In fact, basketball is about the only sport as boring as soccer.

Whole different ball game and why don't you identify yourself as a female to the members of DP?

1 or 2 LeBron James swooping in to do a facial dunk over some Spur is more exciting than most 90 minutes of soccer

Greatest sporting event ever. Love the world cup. Football is not hard to get, I never used to watch, until I started to travel and see how much of a great sport it is. Been all through Europe, S. America, parts of Africa and Asia. Football is the global unifier, you will always have a great conversation if you love the game.

I find soccer boring with worse acting (on fouls)than the NBA. with all the lead in tournaments to wimbledon on the tube and the NBA finals, I would't watch soccer by choice-period. Maybe if they get rid of that stupid score killing "offsides" rule I will watch it.

soccer fanatics have spent billions trying to make this sport commercially successful in the USA. it has failed and of all the major sports a kid can play, soccer is the one most likely to lead to surgery. BTW, my father was at top 5 HS soccer player in the USA and was a two time All-American and my niece went to a top 10 D-I soccer school on a full soccer ride.

I find baseball to be the most dreadfully boring sport ever, I've actually fell asleep twice at MLB games! People bitch about how few scores there are in soccer, but a 3-2 soccer match is the same as a 21-14 score in football, and it is the same as a 3-2 score in baseball or hockey. I love the fact that just one score is so incredbly important in a soccer match. If it is my team, I can be on the edge of my seat the entire game, if I attend a game live, it really sucks when you have to hit the bathroom.. :) Spend a week in Argentina, see the passion, once you get it, you love it.

baseball snoozes me out as well

best team sports include football, basketball and REAL volleyball

a sleeper-Team Handball-sort of like water polo on ground-lots of scoring

NBA and NHL Get the Boot: MLS Is the 3rd Most Attended Sports League in America | Bleacher Report

In just 16 years, the world’s most popular sport has climbed to become America’s third highest spectator sport on average. While soccer's relevance has been questioned by critics for many years, recent figures indicate that Major League Soccer (MLS) now averages higher attendance numbers than both the NHL and NBA respectively.

The MLS kicked off in 1996 as a result of a FIFA mandate requiring that a professional soccer league be launched in the United States if the country wanted to host the 1994 FIFA World Cup. The primary objective was to expand interest in the sport in North America. It has taken almost two decades, but that long-term goal seems to have been achieved.

The NFL leads with 67,358 during its 16-game regular season, and MLB averages 30,334 per game. Dating to the MLS all-star game, the soccer league is averaging 18,733 in attendance per game during the 2012 season, significantly higher than the record-setting 17,872 in 2011. In comparison, the NHL averages 17,455 in attendance per game, while the NBA averages 17,273. Additionally, Nielsen Media Research indicates that MLS telecasts are averaging a record high 345,000 viewers on average for each game shown on ESPN/ESPN2, and up 12 percent from 2011.

The MLS has parlayed these heightened exposure totals into record franchise values, expansion fees and TV revenue. In 2011, the network inked a deal with NBC Sports worth three years and $30 million dollars. Although this pales in comparison to the 10-year $2 billion TV contract NHL signed with NBC last year, the growth is encouraging for professional soccer.

And that is just MLS. World Cup ratings are doing very well, and NBC even shows English Premier League games on the weekends, and the ratings are doing very well.

Get over it, Soccer is here, and people are watching and enjoying it.

And this

http://www.thestreet.com/story/11976443/1/5-major-league-soccer-teams-that-outdraw-baseball.html

Seattle Sounders FC
Entered MLS: 2009
Average 2013 attendance: 41,501
Baseball teams it outdraws: All but the Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants

Forget for a moment that the Sounders are nearly doubling the attendance of MLB's Mariners, who play right next door to the Sounders' CenturyLink Field in Safeco Field. Even the Houston Dynamo and their 19,465 fans per game outdraw the 18,271 that baseball's Houston Astros bring in every night.

This year, on average, the Sounders are outdrawing the Yankees, the Mets, the Angels, the Nationals, the Boston Red Sox, the Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, the Chicago Cubs and White Sox and the Detroit Tigers.

Same same

Soccer is growing, fact. Americans are watching, fact.

Deal with it.

when offices start doing MLS playoff brackets like they do for that NCAA let me know

When offices start doing hockey, baseball, NBA and NFL playoff brackets like they do for NCAA basketball, let me know..I've never seen it in any office I've been in.

One of the comedy shows last night had a clip showing the play of the day at the World Cup.
It mockingly showed a guy moving the ball around a bit--then passing it back to another guy-- :lamo
#1- I'm not a big fan of anything on TV

#2- I'm not a soccer fan.

That being said, if its on TV somewhere, I might watch a little bit of it.

I believe the sport we were talking about is baseball and its true football has ties but they are extremely rare. not like in soccer.

A tie in soccer is like a tie in hockey. Instead of getting 3 points for the win, or 0 points for the loss, each team gets 1 point.

And....Mexico just scored...dammit...I hate that team with a white hot passion.

Soccer = Diving on dry land.

The illegals might be watching and since OBama, there are a hell of a lot more of them.
