    Really.

I played it for years. Other then maybe goalies and fullbacks (the defense closest to the goalies), EVERYONE runs in soccer...a lot.

Having said that, I won't be watching the World Cup much. Maybe just the 'big' games.

I am more into watching football, baseball, auto racing then soccer.

that's really stupid. I find soccer boring but short of tennis players, soccer players are the fittest professional athletes in any of the major sports because they run more miles in a game than any other major team sport

As someone whose kids play soccer, lacrosse and hockey, I will agree 100% with this statement.

The shifts in soccer tend to be substantially longer than either hockey or lacrosse, and after they play soccer, they are drenched in sweat more than even when they are full out playing hockey & lacrosse wearing heavy padding.

They could down 10 boxes of Little Debbie **** and burn it all off in one game of soccer.

as team sports go, only water polo is probably more tiring in terms of endurance though Lacrosse is close

Individual sports-many are more demanding such as boxing, Squash and tennis along with some of the cycling and rowing events but overall soccer players have to be extremely fit. If I had to pick a pro athlete to run a mile race who is not a track or cross country runner, it would be a soccer player or a squash player.
