The pledge is for the hardline tough Christians who are tough and ready to push their uniformity onto the masses. Get ready to talk tough with the lockstep chanting patriotism of the tough-enough Merican Christians. They believe in themselves and never give up hope that they can take away your freedom under a new theocratic state.

Leaving "under God" out of the pledge has nothing to do with hating God or attempting to disrespect God. I am sorry you believe this.

The words "under god" were inserted into the pledge as an offshoot of the hysterical McCarthyism of the day, about the same time "In god we trust" was made our national motto, replacing E pluribus unum (which roughly means "Out of many, one".) I still resent hell out of it, because it was the beginning of trying to turn a secular government into a theologically-based government by bringing religion into the Pledge of Allegiance...the concept of which I'm not nuts about anyway, but that's another topic... and our national motto.

If someone has already brought this up, I apologize. I haven't read the entire thread. This subject is just a real pet peeve of mine.

Agreed.

I cannot even believe this is an issue.....why have a pledge that folks in good conscience have to leave parts out of? It is really not a pledge when you have to intentionally leave oout parts, is it?

That's where you right-wingers have it all wrong. Believing that religion should not mix with government doesn't make someone a "God Hater" anymore than vainly spouting his name in a rote exercise makes someone spiritual.
Right-wingers love to profess and shout the name of God, taking it in vain.....rather than living and demonstrating his principles.
Its been several weeks since the Vegas shooting. Its it still "Too Early" or can we start having the conversation about finally doing something about these mass shootings???

You were implying there is no harm here. I was pointing out harm done. Reporting the teacher does not erase the humiliation that can stay with a kid for year.

No, I never made any implication about the "harm". I advised you to go to the school board. Your post had nothing to do with what I posted. It sounds like you have a serious problem with a teacher, and that won't be resolved by me or anyone on this board.

I'm ok with them being in there, but I would be ok with them being removed. I'm not real big on mindless rote pledges anyway, so it's not a big deal to me.

ETA: It *should be* removed, though, if we want to be consistent with our supposed values as a nation.

If you claim sexual harassment to be wrong, yet you defend anyone on your side for any reason,
then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.
