“They never came in to see me and tell me we had a (voter) fraud issue,” Greer said. “It’s all a marketing ploy.”

Both of whom were ousted from the party. Looks like bad blood. I may have missed seeing it in the article, maybe you can show me who went to jail for this so called "voter suppression". Thanks.

I have no problem with showing an ID to vote. But I do have a problem with the GOP trying to limit voting rights by curbing early voting and Sunday voting. The GOP hasn't helped their cause esp after that video came out of PA. The GOP does well with lower turnout (fact). The GOP needs a low turnout to be successful (my opinion).

Nobody went to jail for voter suppression. Reducing and eliminating early voting hours and days is completely legal. However, if why they were reduced or eliminated ever gets out, it likely will create a PR nightmare. Former Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer did go to jail on other unrelated charges. Former Gov. Charlie Crist to my knowledge left the Republican party on his own accord and I believe is running for Governor again.

I might have agreed with you however after both Greer and Crist left the GOP, the current republican governor and republican legislature followed the claims of this once alleged secret strategy to the letter in 2012 only to have it backfire in their faces on election day. BTW: I am a registered republican but unlike most people, I refuse to define right and wrong by whose team am I on where our guys always do the right thing and wrong is only wrong when their other guys do it.

Everything and everyone is racist. Just ask Mark Cuban.

And I stand by what I typed. IMO, racism will never end so long as people keep thinking of people as 'races' and not as just 'people'.

You started the thread - that means you do think of people as 'races' (not that you are alone in that - the majority probably do as well...sadly).

    Good day.

I know race relations is a difficult subject but I think in order to completely arrive at the place you and I both long to see, shenanigans like this need to be stopped and I don't think they can be unless they're discussed. We can have all the political correctness efforts in the world try to discourage their being addressed but all that will do is help some people ignore what other people see is a serious matters and will divide us. And don't be fooled like I was, there's plenty of political correctness that seeks to restrict speech through vilification they don't want others to discuss on both the left and the right, they're just over different issues.

In every generation since reconstruction there were some who considered race problems of the past ancient history. However, those affected have a different perspective and will act as if their perspective is true even if its not. In 2014 many in the GOP cannot for the life of them understand why its so hard for them to attract minority voters. My hope was maybe this discussion would offer some understanding and even if based on inaccurate perceptions, will at least give us some insights on how to address those misconceptions. And if there is truth to these claims maybe reassess whether they're good ideas that promote the best America we can have.

Making voting harder for certain Ethnic groups, no matter the motive, is racist. It doesn't matter if it's hate fueled, if it singles out a race by definition it is considered racist.
